    I scored a cab! :)...

I had a thread asking about a cab, that was claiming to be a 1974, 1960 A cab. The cab was a touring cab for John Christ, who played for Danzig. I've found videos from the '90s, w/ this cab on stage. It's loaded w/ V30 speakers from 1985.

I just unloaded it from my van, so I took a few pictures. I haven't had a chance to hook it up &/or open it up.

Here's what I've got so far:

It came in a road case. Not sure what the significance of the 54*40 number is, as I was never into Danzig...
    PAUL1034.jpg

The top of the case indicating "stage right". He typically had 3 stacks, & this cab would sit top center...

I pulled it out of the case & here's a look at the front. There's a hole in the grill. It has some sort of cotton mesh as a patch. That hole is evident in the videos from the '90s (I posted a couple in the other thread)..

Also evident in the image is that the corners are all gone. The gold tinsel, is actually looking green.

At some point, the rear panel was swapped w/ an '80s JCM800 1960 Lead rear panel, because they liked the input jack on it better, for not getting snagged on stuff.

    That's it for now.

:yesway: :yesway: Looks perfect to me. I'd source some castors for it, but that's just me..

Authentic relicing by "union roadies" lol.

Nice pickup, cabs are like work boots, never trust the man with shiny- not dirty workboots. Usually a poseur, never trust a Lawyer " bluesman" with a shiny new cab, and a PRS.

Obviously all in good fun. Great looking cab, hope you get some good tones, speakers are definitely broken in.

    Nice score, great looking cab!

The only V30's from 1985 that i've seen were all 8 ohm speakers that came from Marshall combos. So let's see what you got in there!

the cab is supposedly 16 ohm. I haven't had the chance to check it out, I just unloaded it & put it in storage. I took these pic's inbetween the van & storage. I'm thinking of flipping the rear panel, so the input is on the top, rather than the bottom, so, I'll take some pic's when I do that. Even if I don't do that, I'll open it up & take some pic's of the speaker backs & inside the cab...

Lol, I know... Was referring to Marshall castors for the cab itself.

The greening of that piping is due to bronze powder in the plastic oxidizing.

SO did you get one backboards, or two?

Probably the period correct castors would be big $. If the current Marshall castor threads are the same as the 78 cabs I'd probably just opt for those.

    1...

The kid said that his buddy has the original, but he didn't want to let it go when he sold it to him. The buddy has the original grey backs as well. I live inland, the kid lives by the LA (Pomona) Fairgrounds, in LaVerne. The buddy, lives in Santa Monica or somewhere...

I have two 78 cabs, the current Marshall casters with the plastic inserts will fit.
Set of 4 can be had for about $100 bucks.

I'm not worried about castors, really, I have castors, on the case, that it can sit on & dolly around. I'd rather work on getting the original back panel, then it would be original & getting the original castors would be worthwhile...
