For the past few weeks I've really been obsessed about Marshall amps. I guess most of us here have had this happen in one way or another :) Since my other Marshalls amps don't really nail that vintage plexi sound I thought it was time for me to get the SV20H and experience that Plexi sound for myself! So I got it from Thomann this week...

This thing looks great! Very classic. And it's pretty light too! I'll probably only be using this in the studio so I don't mind it if an amp is heavy or light but for people who do gigs this could be a great feat. Others have said this before but this thing is LOUD! In fact, I haven't been able to crank this amp in my apartment. Luckily I have a loadbox so I ran it through that with some trusty IR's and there was the tone!

Love how this amp sounds with my LTD Elite Eclipse-I with a SD JB and '59. The bright channel instantly sounds very Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and old Iron Maiden-y. Very punchy, grindy and vintage!

I still need to spend more time with this amp but I did quickly whip out a very short demo. Really digging how this sounds:

I like this amp so much that I even decided to order a SC20H. That will be here soon hopefully. When I have time I'll make a couple of cool Marshall comparisons. Should be fun!

Who else has one of these? How are you digging it?

Why does the red indicator light flash in the video?

Got them both, "digging" them both. There was something else going on, besides the SV, in that video. Were you using a harmonizer?

Probably due to the frame rate of his camera.

How are you liking that Spark boost Ken? Did you get the 4 knob one?

I love mine! Man it’s really a transparent pedal, that’s what I really like about it. It’s the most transparent boost pedal I’ve tried. It doesn’t color your amps tone in any way, just boosts it.

I’ve tried a number of boost pedals , but this is the best out there imo. I like the tone of my amp, I don’t want a pedal changing it!

And that Fat switch,...WOW, it’s like a super transparent overdrive pedal in that mode!

You guys know what's crazy? A couple weeks ago I only had my DSL50, which was a cool amp but I just had it for whenever I needed 'that marshall sound'. Then I got a used JMP-1 for 200 euros and it reminded me of how much I love that amp. Also, it sounded epic in this huge amp showcase I did a while back on my channel, so I was like: hmmmm I really dig how Marshall sounds in the mix.

Then I traded my Dark Terror for a DSL20HR and I got bitten by the Marshall bug, severely! Then I bought a used JVM401H which is insane but the bug wasn't gone, noooooooooooo, Jon had to get more.

So then I got this SV20H but I loved it so much that I HAD to get the SC20H too. All my money is gone but it's so much fun!

That's just the camera framerate. It does not look like that in real life.

I double tracked the parts and in some places one of the guitars played a harmony, like Iron Maiden :) Otherwise I used no effects.

Looking for something I don't remember what.
    Nice demo Jon.
There is something about Marshall tone that other amps cannot seem to reproduce.

Thanks! You're absolutely right! I have amps that do Marshall-esque tones, but none of them get close to the real deal.

I got rid of all my other amps trying to get that Marshall sound, nothing like a real Marshall. :yesway:

How are you controlling volume with your SV20 an attenuator or are you just cranking it balls to the wall?

He uses a loadbox and IRs, volume isn't an issue in that scenario.

Yup! I can crank it up all the way. Sounds glorious! I did try it through my cab but it was just too loud for my apartment.
