You're on a roll!! Great amp. With a loop. Built like the originals with 6 cans and fly leads. Will peel paint like a proper 800 should..:)

From my experience I would Check the can caps. My 2007 had the black Ruby Gold cans and some were already leaking. Hummed bad. Not a deal breaker, $100 worth of f&t's and all was good, I just thought I'd share. I'd buy it either way for the right price.

Gunner...check this out. The dude...said it purchased it with only two tubes....set up for 50w usage. Doesn't know much about amps...couldn't show me a picture of the back of the amp with the cover cause he said he had it packed up for shipping. Just a bit worried... He's only had it for 6 mos...said it was way to loud for him..even at 50w. Said the impedance selector was set correctly..for 50w. Amp looks totally mint. Said it works perfectly. Just concerned. What sez u?

:2c: " had it packed up for shipping" sounds a bit weak . Does the advert have a " sold as is " disclaimer ?
If you're buying with PayPal/Reverb.com or the like you'll be covered by their Buyers Protection plans.
At this point you're going on trust.

Idk, I'd be a bit leery, but if the price was right, and I was buying it off reverb or ebay where you have some sort of buyer protection, I think I would. It would have to be a good deal though. I got mine, humming like a bitch, but otherwise almost mint ..for $500, lucky I know..lol. but under a grand I think I'm still in.

My only concern would be that if the amp was ran at 50w by pulling tubes, and the owner admitted he doesn't have a clue about amps, how did he know what setting was proper? Maybe my bullshit detector is being too sensitive here :).

But you know how it is buying sight unseen, and who knows whats going on on the inside, and if its been hacked on. A guy saying "I don't know much about amps" maybe a disclaimer of sorts in case there is something wrong inside,..he can just claim ignorance.. again though..if it's a good enough deal I'd take a chance, I got tools..lol..

Yes! Seems genuine enough....but he wants too much. The prices on average for these amps are ridiculous... Most likely not happening.

Yea they are pricey, insane, I remember when you could buy originals all day long for $350. By the way theres an original 80s 2203 in normal, Ill. on ebay right now..reasonable. for now.

Tell him youre dead serious and want to buy it but not without pictures of the back and the internals unless hes willing to take it back if it doesnt check out! Or just get it and ship it back if you dont like it, if its from reverb or ebay youre protected. I did exactly that with a 1987x last year, the dude didnt disclose everything and I got my money back easy. :yesway:

Edit: i just looked the dude up hes got 5 star ratings with no bad ratings. I think you could trust him, as long as you negotiated a good deal go for it, the amp is mint.

I thought about an original...but the idea of a loop is cool...can use it for a lead boost.

You are gaining on me . . . . no saturation pun intended.

You have picked up quite a few more since I last bought any. But my next 2 or 3 are going to be some builds I have in the works.

    I am still waiting for you to get a 6100 though . . . .
