    Hi guys!!

    there is an Ampcoholic here!!!

I just saw on craiglist that this head was for sell at 600 dollars and I was so sad because I been broke for the last few weeks thanks to the purchase of a mighty JMP ,another 6100 Lm and a TSL 560 in the last 6 weeks but I been fucking jamming loud and enjoying a lot the differences between amps and rolling tubes and all that ritual of cleaning a head bias it and re tube ( i love that shit)

so I text the guy if h e would accept offers because I saw it cheap I thought that was something wrong I told the guy that I didn't want to offend him but I was able to get 450 nothing else , so he text me back saying that he would give me the amp 450 and mail to him the rest when ever I the rest ,so I was all paranoid at that moment thinking that might be a scam but I said to him that i will think about it and three hours later he text me back and he said that he was gonna sell for 450 !!!!! rock and roll baby

i met the guy and it turn out that the guy its a fantastic guy king wealthy and turns out that he loves the same music that i hear so now we are gonna jam together in a few weeks !!!

    fuck yes!!!!!

well after that I brought the head it was fucking dirty as fuck the dirtiest head i ever seen but i fucking spend two hours cleaning sockets , cleaning tolex , re tube , bias to my surprice i found that it had Marshall pre amp tubes probably the originals and some sovtek 5881

so took the them all out put some pre amp tubes from my spares and the head fucking rock like bas ass
I don like that the Crunch channel the bass its not tight at all but i guess when i re tube properly I would get the tone right because the other 6100 sounds bad ass and tight

i think i am gonna keep one stock and convert the other one to EL34 !!!
    open to tube suggestions!!!

rock and roll to all the ampcoholics in this forum

Congrats! That amp is on my short list but I have to resort to Reverb or flee-bay flippers to obtain one..........NOT!

BTW! I enjoy the resto process also.........I'm techy like that.

The bass issue can very well depend on when the head was made. As they transitioned from LE's with EL34's to LM's witrh 5881's a handful of parts were changed two being C219-220. They went from a 22n to 100n back to a 22n. This change make the bass sound flabby and it does appear in a few of these heads.
Here is a chart showing the component changes during the transition:

There is also a manual outlining the conversion of these and other Marshall heads:

    http://home.myfairpoint.net/vze1u14s/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/5881el34conversion.pdf

Here is a pic i drew up showing some of the parts that were affected by the change over, The bias circuit does not reflect the changes as this one is already set for 5881's:

Ohh I see that you own TSL100 i love that amp too but i believe the 6100 its superior !!!

and there its one still very clean at guitar center!!! you can buy used and pay it in 6 months and sometime there is a promo for used equipment to 36 months but the only do it 2 times a year

by the way I just swap tubes from my JVM and TSl100 and the amps sounds amazing no that much bass problem I barely feel it now and it was made in 1996 , has just i little hum but i can live it and my other Lm its dead silence
    and its LM model!

for sure man I am really impress with this amp , every fucking channel its amazing i have never had a Marshall like that, thats why i feel its superior to the TSL100 because the crunch channel in the TSl its very weird maybe when i put the updated boards change that i got them last week !!!

Hum could be either the tubes pairs are too far apart in their Ma draw or the filter caps are getting used up.

I have both the EL34 Anniversary blue head and two 5881 LM's and i don't hear enough of a difference between the two to be able to say that changing it to a different tube type will make it sound better.

I have used just about every 6L6GC/5881 tube in these and most are fine. I have been fitting then lately with the Sovtek 5881 and they sound just fine and the tubes seem to be rugged and they last really well.

crunch channel "B" mode pushed upfront, I agree with Anitoli, I have a Le with El34's and a LM with 6l6's, sound very similar, but then again I'm older and my ears aint what they once were... Amps.jpg
