Swapped my 2061x head and Class 5 combo for this beauty. Came with 5881's fitted, but I'm dropping a matched pair of Gold Lion KT66's in....along with some vintage Mullard ECC83's.

Well it does make a sound....and what a sound. I had ten minutes with it earlier today on full volume channel 1 and about 1/3 volume on channel 2 with a jumper bottom 1 to top 2, input top 1. Pure vintage beefy goodness
I've got it to record with when I get my recording studio built next year.

    Congrats, I’ve owned a 1962RI and two 1962HW amps.

I much preferred the smaller size of the 1962RI cab over the huge 1962hw cab. My 1962RI was also running Gold Lion KT66’s. It’s a very tight fit with the KT66’s and you may need to shim out the back panel, but the tube swap is well worth it.

No issue fitting them in...there's about an inch of clearance from the top of the KT66's to the speaker baffle. Seems a lot louder with the KT66's in too. Got 4 x I63 Blackburn Mullards in the pre-amp now too.

lol..No doubt you have heard the anecdote about when Clapton brought that amp into the studio for the recording of the Beano album / John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers in 1966 with a Les Paul, turned the amp up full blast and said this is how I want to record it and the Sound Engineer said " YOU'RE JOKING, RIGHT ! " LOL

There was about and 1/8” clearance between cab the top of the KT66 in my amp. Maybe my KT66’s were taller.

That’s a great looking amp and in great condition.

I think that the 1962 Bluesbreaker and 1974 are two best looking Marshall’s ever made.

    Congrats again.

Any other changes needed to accommodate the kt66? Bias? Resistors? Or plug and play
