I really like the look of this line of amps. I have wanted to try one for a while now.

Yep....put Salt n' Pepper on them a couple of years ago. The B cab had a hole in the original cloth that was bugging me so I did them both....kept the original cloth of course.
This is the best shot I have of them.

The slight yellow colour of the Salt n' Pepper goes well with the purple cabs....basket weave would look ok too I reckon.

Yes, I was looking at the basketweave but all I have found is the same stuff they put on Orange cabs. I'd like the old brown basketweave, instead.

You will get a great opportunity in the coming months as stores sell off the last remaining amps in the line. These amps are fantastic and well worth the investment. Look out for bargains on reverb, eBay and store web sites.

Does anyone know which of the Astoria models has the highest gain? I remember reading that they had one that targeted the jtm tone and others that were closer to an JCM800 gain wise.

The Custom has the most gain. The Dual is slightly lower on the OD channel with the Classic having the least....but an ideal pedal platform. To be fair they all take pedals very well....even the OD channel on the Dual

Did you replace the grill cloth yourself?

Yes....not too difficult as it turned out. Just a case of getting it straight and using a good heavy duty staple gun. The A cab was the tricky one. I pulled it into position on the middle spar from the top, stapled it temporarily there before continuing to the bottom, removing the middle staples afterwards. It could be tighter if I'm honest, but it seems to shrink onto the frame over time. The B cab is perfect...tight as a drum.

My custom has more gain than my 800 , as much as my 2554 I would say .

That would probably be perfect for me since the Jubilee is right where I want it to be gain wise.

It's virtually a two channel amp with the ( footswitchable ) gain boost , the extra tube gives it a big kick up the old proverbial .

That sounds awesome. I love the retro styling too. Are they as well made as they look? They look like they are built like some high end boutique amp.
