Long story...but loved JJ tubes for a long time..but then switched to Sino EL-34B around 2012-13 after a stint with a 1989 2204 I briefly owned. Should never had sold that ground pounding amp..

But what I learned from that experience is that if you need to replace filter capacitors DO NOT USE JJs! Their tubes sound decent enough...and are priced reasonably...but their caps are weird sounding... The F&Ts sound like the original LCR/Dalys...

Anyway, thought I'd try these out after finding out how kick ass they 34Ls sound in my 2204. Nice, warm and crunchy..really good clarity and definition/fidelity...plus they have a decent amount of headroom too.

Btw..experimented too with some Mullard RIs... imo...BORING...don't waste your money. Some of the most characterless tubes ever...

Done with the Chinese tubes as well... 92128824_2995220700498221_1339256508965191680_o.jpg

I very much like the "L's". Man they have a whomping low-end.
They last long and have never failed on me yet.

I also like the EH's for a different reason or end tonal goal.

I'm starting to think volume controls are a waste of space. :hmm:
it sounds so much better if you take all the controls out...sort of like free range chickens.

My JJ 2's didn't last long. And I don't Fucking like that!

They did sound good. However sounding good for a bit doesn't tickle my tone bone. Just another tube whore on the block.
