Is he gone?
He hasn't been here for a few years. He does stop in from time to time though...
(edit) he's out of the tube business altogether though.
He’s about 110 yo now.
Do we Have a NOS guru?
no one selling, but we do have some that know their tubes...
These threads are still going:
or, if you have questions on specific tubes, you can start a new thread, in the workbench...
Well I see that Australian is still the same ole same ole. LMAO!
When I stopped posting on this forum I stated that if I knew you well that you could get in touch with me on Facebook. I am friends with about 30 or so of the guys that used to be on here. I just didn't have the time for the forum anymore. The NOS tube market stopped being viable in 2014. I only sold tubes on the side. I retired at age 58 in 2013, so I'm not quite 110 yet. Of course I'm sure that when some of you hit 65 like I am going to do this coming October you will be out partying with the young gals and living like a rock star.
I'm involved in a lot of stuff here in Tulsa and there is no way that I can bring you up to date on all of it because that's five years worth of catching up.
I went to Las Vegas in early July 2018 and on the way back I stopped off at Bizarre Guitars in Phoenix. My pal Greg Chassion (bass player for Badlands) is the store manager. I bought a Gold Top Les Paul and then my pal Larry DiMarzio had his custom shop make me a trick set of pickups that I put in it. I sold that killer George Lynch clone 2204 that Jon Wilder built for me to a friend of mine that is in the biggest 80's cover band here in NE OK. Check them out. Dead Metal Society. Don Sloan who used to be on here turned out to become a super pal of mine. You might remember in 2014 when I was wanting to put together a custom amp using 7868 power tubes? Well when that was happening I had already moved from Kansas City to the Tulsa area. Much to my surprise I ended up buying a house just one mile away from Don. You may recall me posting the pics of that Blue Demon amp? It is a really awesome amp. Don also completely redid my 1959 RCA PA amp, because it never did sound right. After he got done with it the fukker was a beast. Seven of the best guitarists that use Kemper's have profiled it. This amp is a cathode biased, tube rectified amp and it has a gain control for V1A and a gain control for V2A and it is basically a Class A tube amp. It's the amp that I use every Sunday at the Cimarron Bar in Tulsa.
My buddy at Eminence sent me two FREE Pete Anderson HEMP DOG speakers right after NAMM 2016. I built a couple of matching 112 cabs for these speakers. I still have both of my HUGE Avatar Contemporary 212 cabs but they are used in the backline at the stage in my house. I throw six house parties a year featuring some of the best solo, duo and trio acts around these parts. I have a FB page for that as well.
Anyhow its almost 2AM and "this 110 year old guy" needs to hit the hay.
You all take care and as I said you are welcome to contact me on my FB page.
My New # is 618-974-3335......
Its been too long....would love to speak with you
Geez man, not sure if posting your # is the smartest thing?
Good to hear you’re doing good Marty!
Ever heard of a phone book and have a listed number?
Yeah, 20yrs ago
So what would be so wrong about doing that now?
I don’t care man, do what you want.
I have had my number on my site since 2005, all its gotten me is business. Some people still prefer to discuss things person to person you know? I just don't get all the paranoia in the "New Millenium".
Nowdays, most kids are afraid to talk on the phone...
robocalls just about make having a phone worthless around here...
Sloan amp built on Zinky's Pro-Sonic?
