I have two idential cabs with V30's. One is the Marshall 1960 AV and one I loaded with Avatar Hellatone 60's. Man do they sound different. The Hellatones are rounder with more bottom and just smoother--and louder! The marshall V30's are crunchier, less bottom, super pronounced midrange and thinner. I used the exact same amp with the exact same settings and the sound difference was extremely noticeable.

What gives? I thought they were the same speakers? The only diffrence I can tell is the Marshall is a stereo cab (although I always run mon) and the other Marshall cab is straight mono wired for 16ohm only.

Each cab is going to sound vastly different, but go look at the celestion model number on the stickers of these speakers. You will find that they are slightly different variations.

Swap the speakers between the cabinets and see what happens. You can also have two X-wired cabs.
