    Hey All,

I am wondering how the direct out would sound into a P.A. The band is asking me to get the amp thru the mains and monitors. It's either a direct out, mic or a cabinet simulator. Does anyone have experience with this?

    Cheers, Mike

DI out on most amps usually sounds like crap, compared to mic'ing a good speaker with an SM57. Our other guitarist ran the DI out of his 5150 III into my audio interface for recording one night, needed major surgery (post processing) to get it to sound decent. Lots of different approaches, but just mic'ing the cab is usually most cost-effective. There's a reason most pros go that route. My 2 cents.

Yep. My experience with most DI out is crap. The balanced XLR outs can be much better sounding.
