A lot of people claim this amp is too bright and has no bottom end. Well in removing all of the stock tubes, I use nos Ge 12ax7 long plates for v1 and v2 , vs I used a balanced rca 12ax7a short plate for v3 and the tube stores' preferred series el 34s' this amp sound fantastic now not shrill like before with a big bottom end is amazing how using the right tubes make the difference.

Good for you for finding the right tube combination! Another factor is speaker and cab choice, what are you using? I had one of these amps shortly and found it sounded pretty spot on exactly like my 2204. I use a G12T75 2x12 1936 sized cab, not bright and plenty of bottom end, and with the stock tubes. :yesway:

Not gonna go wrong with a tube compliment like that in a 800.
    Nice.

I don’t know who said it’s lacking bottom end cause mine doesn’t. These amps have just the right balance of highs, mids and bottom end imo. Yes, these amps are bright, so keeping the treble and presence a bit lower that you otherwise would works great.

@pedecamp makes a good point, choosing the right speakers can make or break any amp. I’m playing mine thru a 1-12 Creamback loaded cab.

My Jcm800 Studio sounds phenomenal with this cab!

As many here know, I’m using a Weber MiniMass 50 watt attenuator,...it allows me to crank the amp to take advantage of the great tones that result from power tubes that are cooking!!

I absolutely love the tones l can get from this amp with this attenuator!!

I should mention for those that don’t know ,...I’m using this amp at home. My gigging days are long over.

And I keep all the knobs on 5 and the volume on 1, bump the volume up to 2 or 2.5 when jamming with a band. Great tone! :yesway:

Do you have a Jcm800 Studio now pedecamp? I know you’re waiting on the Studio Plexi, did you receive it, or are you referring to your 2204?

Referring to the SC20H I used to have and my 2204. They were really identical in sound and operation. :yesway:

Still waiting on my SV20H, they keep bumping the date...

You can't beat NOS tubes. Nothing made today even comes close to tone & longevity. In a Marshall I would rather use Mullard or Brimer rather than GE's which I think sound better in Fender amps. GE's are good tubes but wait until you load it with Mullards [including power amp EL34's]. Magic, isn't that what we are all chasing?

Does anyone know what the OEM preamp tubes are? In my 2525H, TungSol's are used for the power tubes.

I'm having the same issue with lacking balls. I wasn't going to roll tubes (Marshall tubes in a Marshall amp - who would have thought?), but I came really close to putting some NOS 7025's in there. I have lots of 12AX7, but I'm not sure if I have Mullards.

The website says to be delivered 9/30/19, I just noticed they have the combo in stock, I was thinking of ordering one to use while I wait for the head to be delivered.

If accurate 10 days not too bad.
I dunno about getting the combo in advance. Would be a bit of a downer no?

I suspect 10 days will go by and the date will continue to push...

OK, so lets say Oct 1 rolls around and theres no sign of it shipping, then I will consider the combo.

Do you know who the Marshall distributor is in your neck of the woods?
They may give you a more accurate / realistic idea then what GC does?
