Amp dummy here and any help very much appreciated...
I'm looking to possibly purchasing a nice shape 1961A 2x12 cabinet to play around and see what it might do to the sound for one of my Studio 15 amps. Combo says 8ohms and cab says 8 ohms.
Would this just be... Unplug the combo speaker and plug in the cab speaker cable?
    Any problem? Worth trying?
    Thanks!

Rule of thumb is always play the amp into the same or more resistance. I play my Fenders into 16 ohm cabs all the time. Full up through an attenuator for an hour at a time and doing it for years with no issues at all. The problem is going the other way and playing into 4 ohms, that's where you fry the output transformer.

Just keep in mind the power rating of speakers is going to have something to do with how loud they are for a given load, so your combo speaker may be much louder than the 2x12 if you use them both at the same time.

Get the cab! It's always great to try different speakers. The first 2x12 I got I was blown away by how much dimension it had over a 1x12 combo setup.

my guess is, this is the amp?

it appears you have only 1 speaker out, set at 8 ohms, so, yes, you'd unplug the internal & plug in an 8 ohm cab...
