    I have some money I have saved. I’ve got a 96 JCM900 I love it but I’d like somthing else to add to my Marshall collection. I also have a 80s JCM800 combo in my collection.
    I’m torn between the Jubilee or the 1987x they’re both mega! Lovely sounds. I play hard rock, GNR, ACDC, Crüe but love the heavy thump the 900 has on its low end (well mine does!)

    marshal 2555 is £899 now in the UK in some places where the 87x £1.199.

    let the debate begin.

    I have both - the 2555x is a very versatile Marshall with amazing cleans and a wide variety of OD tones and a good MV. The 1987X is a rawer raunchier amp that needs volume to sound it's best - I use pedals to tone shape at lower volumes.

    I have the 2525 and I love it. Fantastic tones. The 1987x is cool too on the account that it's just completely bad-ass.

    Answer: Both. 2525 first though. :)

    Yes, get one while you can. I'm always afraid that they won't be available again. You need to special order the 100 watt in the US now. I should have got one when they were unloading them a few years ago. At the time I had just gotten the 20 watt one. This was based on my experience gigging where a 20 watt amp is usually much more welcome than a 100 watt one. I needed a lower watt Jubilee. And I already have a 50 watt original so I didn't absolutely need the 100 watt version.

    Thanks guys great feedback! Fingers a twitching! The only one problem I have is I live in a flat/apartment and I can’t play at badass levels of volume and since this CV19 is here I wouldn’t be able to play either at the required volume without being A) evicted or B) deaf

    I own a 1990 Jubilee 2555 and a 1987XL. Both are keepers and fantastic. If you need a Master Volume, go with the Jubilee. It is a versatile amp and the EQ is very responsive. The 1987XL is loud and the Plexi tone. Not as versatile and definitely not a home use amp. I only use mine to record and now that I have the Suhr Reactive Load IR, I can use it now through my stereo monitors. Just depends on what you're looking for. Both are fantastic.

    I would advise you to jump on that price and get your self a 2555X , you will instantly bond with this amp as I have 2 of them and love them so much and have the matching cabs loaded with the Marshall Branded Vintage 30's . The sound and tone is righteous and really a great low end and mid range beast , that together with a humbucker loaded guitar is nothing short of perfection and tonal Nirvana . :headbanger:

    Don’t. It’s a slippery slope to playing in bars with hookers and blow or tigers and meth. Whatever suits your desire.
