Just installed a new quad (EL-34BSTR)...biased up quickly, matched really well...and are very steady right out of the box...sound great too....

$60.00 delivered to my door from Musician's Friend...making them a great deal too..

I have had really bad experiences with Ruby, and I will never buy their tubes again.

Wow, not my experience at all...lol... I met one of Schenker's guitar amp techs last week...also worked on Vai's amps...He soldered in the new inputs on my 2204 (heeded your advice)..spent hours with this dude...taught me a ton of stuff! He also loves Ruby tubes...as did another tech I met 15 years ago that worked on my 2203... They sound great to me...like the old Teslas from the 80s I had.... Perhaps you were using them when they were Russian made? Their all made in the Shuguang factory now in China. Shuguang is making GREAT tubes these days... Rubys are hand selected.

The issue was customer service- unacceptable.

Dude, bought them from MF...$57.00 plus tax shipped! Their customer service is excellent...I have NEVER had a problem returning anything to them over the past 20 years.

    This was not Musicians Friend.
This was the Ruby Tubes Customer Service.

You did not return a defect power tube.
This is where the problems started.
This is what made me decide to buy tubes from other sources.
The customer who bought the new Ruby output tubes (from a music store) never received what he paid for.
I returned the new matched pair TWICE, and received the same 1 defect tube back TWICE.
Never again will I waste my time on Ruby. The warrantee on NEW UNUSED tubes was absolutely worthless.
Finally we just gave up, and bought tubes somewhere else.
The customer service was as useless as the tube itself !
As for the customer: the money was better spent flushing it down a toilet.

No, I will not buy Ruby any more. There's plenty of vendors who honor the warrantee, and Ruby is not on that list. Final Answer.

Sorry you had issues dude. I buy mine from musiciansfriend also. Never dealt with Ruby directly. As far as m.f. go They never have refused a return, I sent 2 SG'S and a 2555x back with no problems. They replaced them within 2 days.

Their EL34BHT is about the only tube that can handle really high plate voltages 530-560v
