Tensions are high in that region. Possible accidental shoot down?

News broke here early (it did after all leave from Amsterdam) and for now the status is nothing more than that the plane lost altitude 50 miles before the Russian border and crashed.

The separatists in eastern Ukraine say they do not have the means to take them down.
So it could have been Ukraine forces or a black operation by academi (who do have the means to pull that stunt)

Then again, I'm speculating when it comes to that very last bit.

I'm keeping update on a Dutch source...

There's this question that pops up.
What business does a commercial airliner have flying over a conflict area?

Highly likely shoot down was by Ukrainian "revolutionaries", supplied by Putin.

    As I've said before, I'm a pragmatist.
Puck Futin and the tanks he rode in on. Assassinate the sh*t stirrer, which sends a message to the next guy,"Don't go stirrin' sh*t," and ground all flights to and from Malaysia until they can get their sh*t together and execute all the fundamentalist revolutionaries.
    Too pragmatic?
Hey, I'm fightin' Argentine ants, here. The rest of you are on your own.

I don't know anything about Argentine ants.
Traditionally we destroy ants nests in these parts using large amounts of boiling water. 3 days of treatment works.

According to what I have read,
The BUK MKI and MKII are fully automated when active, if any systems were active at the time, it would have registered the Airliner as a threat.
Is it technically restricted airspace? or is it part of the international flight routes? If so they need to reconsider making it so.

And since it is known that one of these launchers fell in uncontrolled hands, doesn't that make for criminal negligence to fly over the area?
Where on earth did they get their flight plan from.
Did they stick to the flightplan provided?

    Questions, questions, questions...

    Another update answering some questions.
Again, Dutch source: PowNed : Update: NL'ers op gecrashte vlucht

From now own all flights will stay clear of that region.
    Unbelievable...

And that is only for flights coming from Schiphol Airport.

Between 20 and 30 Dutchmen on board, possibly some Belgians. Reportedly also 23 US citizens.
