I saw Aerosmith live last night for the first time. Joe Perry is a filthy guitar player. Now..the point of this thread is, what does he use? I seen 800's, but there has to be more to it...besides the different pedals, guitars, pickups etc. the sound his amps were pushing was just outstanding. So anyone know a basic rundown of the amps he has? I heard he uses many different amps, or some on stage aren't really the ones he uses.

Yes! OMG it was great! He played his new single "World on fire" and he brought "You Could Be Mine" into the list. Other than that, Slash played the basics. Did em' all well as always:slash:

Not sure what he's doing on this tour, but he was recently using this: Which is beautiful in my opinion.

He's still using the Jet City amp, I see. I also see it's got modded power switches. I guess they didn't trust the standard plastic rockers. Hellofa rig!

I missed seeing them in '89, I think it was. I saw The WHO instead on their Tommy tour at Folsom Field in Boulder. IIRC, Aerosmith was playing that same weekend in Denver but I couldn't go to both. Took my 2nd-wife-to-be, now my 2nd ex-wife, to see The WHO on our first date instead. Totally corrupted the woman, she being a country music devotee until she got a taste of Pete, Roger and John Entwistle (RIP). lol -Rod-

Thats not a mod, I think all the newer version of them have the metal switches. Do a quick Google search and you'll see them.

I would love to know the history of that one cab with the hole and um...questionable stains. There's got to be some rock and roll road stories behind that cab.

perry has always been a great, solid player, and he doesn't try to overdo things in my view. moreover, his recorded tones and licks are very boss. listen to the toys in the attic album. great production!!

Really? Actually, the last time I looked them up, they weren't even on the market anymore. That was about a month ago. I'll give it a look-see though. Thanks. -Rod-

EDIT: Correct you are! It's a 100H. About 2 years ago he was doing an interview with someone and there was a 22H behind him. I assumed it was the same amp.

EDIT to my EDIT! Reviewing the video above, it actually IS the 20H. I've never seen a 20H or 22H with metal power switches and the amps are no longer being sold new. I looked at Jet City's web page and they still show them both but both have the plastic rocker switches.

I saw them when they were still virgins back in 1974. It was the Toys in the Attic tour! The people and myself loved them (young girls were going crazy!) but, I felt a band which played before them blew them away. Mahogany Rush was on fire back then!

That's cool! I have to say that while I like Slash's playing and his new song, I say the lyric video for it and thought it was trashy. I guess it fits the mood though. Have you seen it?

    I saw them in '72. $2 cover charge. I was 15.

My friends said 'lets go pick up some girls...' and they smuggled me into a bar over in Sunapee, NH. I was big for my age...

They played everything from the first album, and a couple from the second. I knew they were gonna be big.

Year later they got a huge record deal...

Great rig...wish I never got rid of my Jet City JCA20H...it was a great amp head once I swapped the power tubes to vintage Mullard EL-84's...
