I put some cash down to hold a 50 watt in mint condition. Was buying a new 2019 SG and they just took it in on trade. Was so mint I thought they put out a reissue lol. Anyway I got some great classic Marshall tones out of it.

it’s certainly not an 800 but thought it may compliment my 800 in my studio. Picking it up this week and just wanted your thoughts!

I've got a 2500 also, cool amps, a great platform for tweaking into a hot-rodded 800 2204 (IMO). Darker sounding than an 800, but lots of potential.

I just bought one the other day and I'm still feeling it out. Seems kind of flat compared to my 4500. I'm gonna try rolling some pre's and check it out then. Hope yours rocks and congratulations.

Plug up the FX loop with something...set to max level. Ensure the bias warm enough. They sound great!

My 2100 was a beast. '98 factory EL34. The closest 900 to an 800 imo, but they will mud up quick if that gain sensitivity knob gets too high..resist the urge, and give it some volume.

And keep an eye on BR3..:D

The 900 Master Volume amps (not so the DR's) have a pretty high negative feedback level (feedback resistor 27k). Although I have never had or played one of these, I could imagine, that there is potential for getting back that Marshall kerrrannng (reducing feedback level). At least this is my experience from experimenting with feedback/presence circuits a while ago.

Thanks guys! Going to pick it up today. It’s got a lot of gain. It will be interesting to see how that compares with my BE-100.

Hell yes! I love my 50W 900 SL-X. In the 90’s the JCM 900 was my dream amp but I was on a Valvestate budget so I never had one back then. The closest I came 10-15 years ago was a Mark III 2x12 combo at a store that I tried to haggle then down from $500 to $400 and failed.

Anyway, sometime in 2018 I finally found a SL-X head for a decent price. High gain British tone is what I go for and this thing rocks it. I run both the gains up at 2-3 o’clock and goose it with a Tube Screamer.

I hear a lot of people say the SLX is the best 900. I haven't played a SLX but I have liked all the other 900s I have tried. I prefer the 900s over the DSLs any day. Hope you like yours.

Loving it! It’s very Marshall and very 900 like even though it doesn’t have the diode clipping like my MK III 900.

It doesn’t have the 800 thump but it does have thump. Like maybe less lower mid thump but a little more in upper mids. Either way I like it. Great for solos. Can’t wait to track this along side of my 2203. I think it’s going to be huge.

Was it the EL34 version? I didn't care for the 6L6 version because I had one but I have so much love for the EL34 version! Congrats!

I think it is the 900 to have!!
