No, it's literally a fact-- not merely a baseless and unsubstantiated opinion.
Here we go again!
I will make a deal with any of you "hand" deniers: You come to my house and hear me play through my amp. We will then go to your house and play your rig. I bet I will still sound more like me on your rig then I would sound like you!
I'll one up you
You play through your rig, and I will adjust the knobs and guarantee the tone will change, regardless of whatever perceived finger tone you believe to possess.
THAT is the test. Still wanna bet?
We could do another test, where you play through your rig, then you play through mine (while I adjust things). Your goal is to sound the same as you do through your rig, proving the hands theory.
A simpler test of the hands theory would be to set your rig how you prefer, then grab a ukulele, and a banjo, and see if the tone is the same, Hint-- It won't be
I completely agree that you being bothered by it is a fact.
While perhaps interesting (not really), it is equally irrelevant and does not disprove my position, nor make the case for the opposition
No it is not.
Style of your playing is in your fingers, and if you can translate your soul into strings of your guitar then that is perfect
Style of playing is the most important aspect for one guitar player so whatever player plays will sound like him.
Based on how you have previously described your playing...thanks but I'm self isolating.
An iso cab can affect tone LOL
Now zachman you know that would be very dependent on the mic being used!!!
Speaker too, no doubt
Wait... You mean gear can affect tone independent of whose fingers are playing the gear? Whoa!!! Who'd have thunk it
I like camp fires, there is always a good story.
Gedoudahere yah lunk...
"adjust your equipment"
Most of the dunderheads set all the geetar controls to max and never adjust them whilst playing, likewise the amp...
tone is not in your hands.
if tone is in your hands then stop buying pedals. stop buying high end or different amps.
1 guitar, 1 amp is all you will ever need.
technique is in the hands, NOT tone. geezus already.
"Tone" is what happens when the stars align and your rig just sounds right for those important 10 seconds out of a 25 min session...
... or when you stop wearing the guitar down lower that your nuts and also dial back the gain for once. Guitarists who wear guitars up around their chest never sound bad ever. Those ones always have tone. I'd say if you had it on your forehead you'd probably sound like a God... oh wait... Hendrix did it that way already.
if tone was actually in your hands, you should sound the same regardless
of what gear you are using. since tone is in your hands it should be totally portable right?
Pick material makes a big tonal difference. If you use fingers instead of a pick that really changes tone again. Fingers seems to produce a much wider range of tones than picks to my ear too.
So at least in this regard tone is literally in the hands.
My question- why the fvck am I posting in this thread again? lol. never learn.
It's in the fingers. You may now close the thread.
Hi -o- Silver,away!!!!
