Im not that good really but i know im wanting a Mahogany body.

Problem is i dont know which models use Mahogany. If its a see threw finish i can usually see the grain but not all of them are see threw finishes im sure

Ide be happy with a MIM strat if it had a Mahogany body, ive found a few of the Fender FSR American Deluxe but im not sure i need a guitar this good.

I know i want Mahogany, i think i want rosewood everything else i can change myself

I prefer a 2 point tremolo but its not that important i seldom use the tremolo

Try Warmoth, etc. For example, here is my MJT mahogany Tele body (nitro finish)

Kokobola, Ironwood, Teak, Koa wood. These are all mahogany which sound good on a guitar.

    Why?

If you are making a Fender sounding guitar, Alder is the wood.
If you are making a guitar that sustains like a motherf*cker, Mahogany is the wood.

Ive had MANY guitars in the past and looking back th ones that i always liked were Mahogany, i didnt realize it till i started messing with les pauls. I wasnt sure what it was at first, the bridge, the set neck, the scale they all just had this something that i like.

I got a cheap $100. ibanez gio that has a flat walnut finish and its mahogany this guitar has that same tone, not as fat and sustains like the les pauls bt it has this something that i cant get on any other strat tye guitar i have.

I use to think i likes bass wood i have an 80s charvel thats heavy and chunky but its nothing like the mahogany guitars.

Like i said i also have a 90s strat looking headless steinberger and its a heavy chunkky mahogany as well as my friends berger they both have this extra something to em its hard to explain.

I think im going to get the FSR Fender deluxe

Whats funny is im wanting the Gibson sound but in the comfort of the strat, the belly cut, the forearm bevel the thinner neck

I had 2 standard epiphones, 3 standard pros, a classic and the Fender american standard sold em all to get other guitars in mahogany

I see there is a PRS that kinda looks like a cross between the Fender/Gibson

    Is this B stock stuff?

I remember that site posted before but never knew what the site was.

    I have $1200. saved up.

I got $800. for that US standard strat i had, then sold another Epiphone.

I just wanted to do some more digging before i decided on something maybe you guys had some leads on some mahogany strats.

THere is 3 ive found A player SSH, one called a black top looks like an SG HH, and then the FSR deluxe i think its SSH also

    Stratosphere does the unthinkable...

They buy guitars (wholesale) & sell them in parts & make a profit...

So, like w/ that Strat you have, it could have been bought from them in parts. They could have bought a matching body/neck & a Fender pre-loaded pickguard...

This one is all Warmoth. Maple top over mahogany body. Flame maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. It is pretty heavy and does sound quite good in a slightly "Gibson" sort of way. Still, for me alder is the best wood for Strat bodies. YMMV...

I want the whole guitar to look like the back of that one. I dont need all the fancy tops they are cool but not for me.

What did that guitar run you once it was all done?

On the warmoth site is that body called the "soloist"?

That's their standard Strat body but it's what they call "rear rout". I have roughly $1000 in that guitar, the finished body with the maple top was pretty expensive (also the flame maple neck). The great thing about building one is you can make it exactly the way you want it.

You know Alder doesnt sound that bad, i dug out my Jackson Dk2m pro and i kinda forgot how good it sounds. Its no where near as warm as the Mahogany but not bad. I was thinking about getting rid of it next but i think ill hang on to it.

That strat i just sold sucked bad, it was made of ASS err ASH but sounded like ass
