    I don't remember the circumstances, other than it was around 1987. I can say that loud was routine for gigs and rehearsal.

    Dave (Avatar's owner) does know his biz, so my situation may be the exception to the rule.

    I am going to guess that dirty signal equates to severly clipped AC output from the power tubes.
