Lately I'm considering a JCM800 2203X head and was wondering how loud is this head compared to the Silver Jubilee 2555X or to a JCM900 SL-X?

I'm readinf that the JCM800 is loud as hell, but as it is a master volume amp like the above amps, is it really different or what?

The Silver Jubilee 2555X and a JCM900 2100 SL-X and I usually play with master volume at12 o'clock and its' just fine. The band is pretty loud, and I use a 2x12" V30 cabinet.

It depends on the speakers. The wattage does not make the amp loud but the speakers do...
2203 is loud as shit. You will be evicted, good luck w/ that.
For example: louder than a 747 taking off the runway...and permanent hearing loss.

Yes but why differes from a 2555X or a SL-X? I mean, they are all master volume amps... or the JCM800 is of a different kind?

With my other amps I use the MV at 12 o'clock and no attenuator and its fine, I need a lot of volume.

I've had a few 2203 and 2204's and I honestly think tey are about the loudest amps ever.

They have most of their volume before they reach halfway, I find the jubilee's are the opposite.

I've never EVER had one up much past 3 !!

I've had all 3. They all get holy fuck loud, but the 2203x does it quicker, and it's brightness ect.. makes it seem much, much louder overall.

At Max volume both the 2555x and the 2203x should be skull crushing loud. The difference between them is the taper on the mast er as someone above mentioned. The 2555x you can run comfortably at about half way on the master but on the 2203x you would probably have the master on 3 instead. But both on 10 they should be about the same.

Yes, I 2nd that. They are all loud when turned up, just different designs, with different levels of volume control sensitivity. The volume level of the Jubilee on 6, is comparable to the 2203 on 1 - 2.

Yep I think these numbers are pretty close. 2 on a 2203 equals like 5+ on the Jube due to volume pot taper. As mentioned the rawness and openess of a 2203 would make it seem louder too.
    I agree with all.

Yeah, but volume at <1 on my 2203 is living room volume at my house. Between 1 and 2 if you want to piss off the neighbors. 2 to 3 for gigs and you might need earplugs. BTW I also play mine through a 2X12 loaded with V30’s.

Actually i agree that the 2555x SJ has a very progressive volume knob. I have been playing a TSL 100w for years, and it went crazy loud well before then the SJ, in the scale of the knob.

"I need a lot of volume..."

Then you should buy a Verellen. Verellen is the loudest guitar amp on the planet.
At least 2X 4X12 cabinets or 4 cabinets should do it.

After you are arrested, the forum will pitch in and bail you out of jail.

It's so loud, it will disable your hearing permanently.
(it will pop the phone plug out of the speaker cabinet from the air pressure, no I am not joking)
    Is that good enough?
