What crock of shit . Some estate of a dead rock star . Can sue you for a three note rif that might sound the same. So what’s next you can’t play guitar when stoned it might violate some copy right law

Yep. Everybody sues everybody for everything.

Animals have more rights than people.

The reason a crime is committed dictates the severity of the punishment.

Signs of a society in dangerous decline. If it wasn't bound to affect us one and all, it would be a blast to watch.

Hey now. I filed the copyright on that 40 years ago. Library Of Congress told me I was too late

Now if I can just get copyright on a few chords I can have this music business sewn up.

    There are only 12 notes.

People overuse them. That's how this happens:

The problem? Too damned many lawyers!

If an artist writes enough songs they will no doubt eventually write one that's going to sound similar to another one!

It IS a crock, and needs to be stopped..Copyright infringement should only apply if it can be proved they were copying a specific copyrighted song, which of course would be darned near impossible.

What's next? "State approved only" music? :sadwave:

I guess everyone will have to start playing out of tune and unmusically.

It is definitely not the same or copied. Yes they play the same type of instruments in a similar fashion. If that is the case the first person/group to invent a style could sue everyone after them.

Do you know how badly the Country industry could be sued if the old rock bands decided they wanted money?

What ever happened to paying homage as a good thing. It can be done and if you truly lift something then pay for the use with respect.

It worked out well for the Stones. If we tried it, they would probably sue us.

I wonder what would happen if somebody tried to plagiarize that "piece" from years ago that was just an entire record's worth of silence? Maybe that would jolt everyone into the realization of how silly this all is.

Nahhhh..... That would involve common sense.
