Okay people, I have $2k to spend on a new guitar that I don't need. The question is do I wait for Gibson to make a run of left handed guitars (they told me they plan to) as I want a Les Paul Classic in black, or should I just put together a Warmoth that I can build exactly as I like. To me it seems the main differences are obviously bolt on vs. glued in neck. If I do a Warmoth I will make it a triple humbucker body with some funky wiring, birdseye maple neck with rosewood fretboard. I would go with mahogany for the body with a quilted maple top. Probably do a black dye finish. The Gibson would most likely get all of the electronics changed out anyway. I'm really impressed with the quality of the Warmoth neck I just put on the mexi-strat. If their bodies are as nice it could be a tough call. Watcha think?

    2 grand?

Maybe an ESP E-II Eclipse or some other Japanese brand?

Imho screw Warmoth Les Pauls, the resale value will be 200 bucks on a good day

Edit: N/M no E-II eclipse lefties....

I'm not looking to go P90's. You should definitely buy it.

Not everyone makes left handed guitars. I had to wait for 3 months for a LP standard in 1988. I really miss that guitar. It was black. My wife made me sell it to pay rent. She is still paying retribution, so it really kind of worked out in my favor...

I acquired my 2013 Signature T for $999.00. Great guitar, but I want to take it up a notch.

Never looked at them. Thought they were really expensive Strat copies?

Needs to look, feel and smell like a Les Paul. Just to clear up the field a little bit.

I hear ya. I’ve never played a guitar with p90s. I was thinking if I didn’t like them I’ve got some routing to do.
    Good luck and have fun!

If you go with Warmoth, it's good parts guitar and has little or no resale value.

If you go with Gibson, the q/c is suspect, and if it's a good one, the resale value will be high.

I just did exactly this not too long ago. You should definitely buy used, I got a mint condition lefty SG Standard in black for $850 off Reverb. Theres plenty of used black Gibson LPs out there, I opted to have one built to order from China, they did a pretty good job too copying my real Gibson goldtop. I gave them the specs and they made it for like $225 then I spent another $200 to have it refretted when I got it, then a few bucks worth of electronics to rewire it myself, I actually kept the stock pickups in it they sound really good. I guess what I'm saying is you dont have to spend $2K, and believe me I didn't need either one of these LOL.

The SG is real, the LP is Chinese:

I put some CTS pots and bumble caps in the LP:

The question is: how good is the Warmoth finish vs. The Gibson?
