Here we go! Gibson has started laying off senior workers at its Nashville plant from the custom shop. Sorry I could not attach the article but you'll find it if you search. Not looking good!

Fisrt off, I love Gibson guitars, Customs, Standards and Classics but it just goes to show what a douche bag Hank is when he is quoted making a statement like this:

Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz: “Guitars from the ’50s are what the purists want, but we have to have something new and exciting”

If he listened and produced guitars customers want then maybe he wouldn't be in this situation? Hes an idiot! I hope Gibson gets taken over by someone or some Company that listens to its customers and employees.

Well, I guess his "something new and exciting" has not been working out too good for him and meanwhile he has had many years where he has messed with the basic guitars that made Gibson Gibson.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out...

He is probably glad he is filling his pockets since he doesn't have to pay them anymore

Probably true, but he'd better have a large surplus of high-end guitars on hand.
    No employees....No guitars.

15 people laid off!!! Wow, I guess hes off to a great start in cost savings when he needs to pay back 375 M by July 23rd. Those Custom Shop employees must have had one hell of a good salary:hmm::scratch:

Another way to look at it is a lot of instruments that have come out of the Custom Shop have been widely panned on the net and sales haven’t been great so maybe it was a time for a change?

These were mostly higher ups, people in management and decision making positions. On the flip I really don’t like to see anyone lose their job.

I would hate to think they got rid of the Custom Shop Craftsmen.

Hey maybe they will go somewhere else for a job. Who knows, maybe they will band together to make their own guitar line, that would be interesting to see

Perfect opportunity for Suhr and PRS to poach those about to lose their jobs at Gibson...
