New grill cloth. Deep clean the Tolex. Hopefully there are decent speakers in there, if any.

Anytime you see this multi-tendriled blue Hi-Temp Teflon wire?

You know its from KK Audio. Ive had 2 other cabs with this same configuration...

Nope! Listing was $150 but I might have gone $175 no more than that.

Its done. Too many contacts - sellers has gotten cold feet now.

Thats fine. Saves me from a 12-hour time-hole over just more common G12T-75's.

I was only half-looking for an interesting how-to diy project.

Good luck, whoever gets it. Ugliest project I never took on... and I had 2 of Vinnie Vincents' pink-painted 4x12's so I do have experience fighting the uglies.

Better put a meter on that POS before you hook up an amp & check cab impedance.
But first open the back & look inside.
    Early 80's 800 cabs came with G12-65's, G12-80's, G12-100 & T75's ect.

I know it's gone, but when I get a cab like this, it's always a deep scrub, air out and new grill cloth. Keeps some of the character and makes it tolerable to have around.

"Oh its really red, alright. And mouldyous. Cigrettes.. exhaust.. tree leaves.. spiders from mars, spittle and perhaps some other mammal fluids...."

Where do you think vintage tone comes from? The tooth fairy?
Why are you planning to spoil such a wonderful VOS cabinet?

Buy original tolex and grill cloth, restore it. Why make it worse?

I would re-do the Tolex, new corners and grill, and speakers of your liking.
    Or...
Go down to Mobil on the corner and get a gallon of gas and a Bic lighter. Soak well and light.....

Love the red cab. Buy a printed grill cloth with a funny image on it. Or respan the original grill cloth. I just love road use. And simple repairs. Just very rock’n roll.

What is it about road-rashed tolex you find appealing?

I don’t understand the question. That looks like an original mid-80’s JCM800 cab in red elephant tolex. Likely had the black grill cloth but it faded to brown (like my two 1985 era 1965 4x10 cabs).

Red 800’s are pretty uncommon. Certainly clean it up (lots of good suggestions how in this thread) but I wouldn’t recover or re spray anything. Save the mojo!

New or clean looking gear is nice but patina is COOL!!!! I'd just clean it up. If the grill smells or you just can't stand how dirty it is, change it out, otherwise just clean it.
