I needed a clip of a diesel rig starting up and revving the engine (atmosphere for the beginning of a song). I found great clip on YouTube with my phone, played it via Bluetooth to my little ihome speaker. Pushed an SM57 up to it, smashed the signal with a compressor going in. Big fat Diesel sound!

That's awesome! Tips and tricks of a good sound engineer. :D

    Nicely done.

BTW: I won a pair of speakers like that from a company picnic. Ended up throwing them out before I used them. LOL

No I mean use a plug-in that just records audio straight from your soundcard into your DAW. There are tons of them out there.
You could also re-route your monitor cables right back into your interface.
Or...just jam a mic on a little speaker.

I know, that's what he did. It's like the worst of the options. Like punching yourself in the face.

Yeah, youdve gotten me if I record to a DAW.

Not to mention the fact that it was about as much trouble as wiping my ass, and came out sounding great. Sorry to bust your bubble there Spanky

Amazing. This actually pissed some of y'all off. Sort of gives me a feeling of accomplishment beyond what I intended.

Glad it worked but Firefox has a youtube downloader addon where you could have downloaded the file directly and drag/dropped it to the track in the DAW.

What? Spanky? What the fuck is wrong with you? It wasn't anything about bubbles or whatever. Insecure much? I was just making a suggestion that works easy. By all means, keep on with your backwoods way of doing things if it makes you feel good.

Nah dude, you made this go full stupid. But it's okay. From now on I know to just tell you what you want to hear so this doesn't happen again.

That wouldn't be fair to you. Don't do that to yourself. Also don't assume someone is upset unless you know. I hate to see anyone suffer

You were clearly upset by nothing. As a fellow recordist myself, I thought we could talk shop. But I see that is impossible with someone like you. Good luck.

BTW I do everything the hard way. I have to. There ain't no computers in the studio unless you count the masterlink I mix down to on occasion. Just an old tape deck.
