So I was at the guitar shop grabbing some picks and a new strap for the snow white charvel and I saw this fulltone plimsoul in the small used shelf. $85 cdn.
I grabbed it as a what the hell it's, supposed to be good thing. Well I brought that pedal to the jam instead of the marshall because I'm old and lazy .. I have a crate solid state 120watt 2x12 I leave there for those lazy days. Anyways that freakin pedal through the clean channel rocked the stage and blew me right away. I shit you not. It was sounding better than all the other tube amps there. Ballsy, filled the whole mid section in with authority and I'm still like wtf. Kick ass preamp in a little box that dare I say sounds, as good or better than most peoples rigs... on that crate. I know, you guys are like yeah whatever but I'm telling you it was outta this world... Never heard anything that thick and sick ass tones out of an old solid state pedal combo....ok I'm done lol rant over.

    Carry on.

Imma paint the housing so it's a secret. It was that good. Seriously, I'd tour with that rig and a delay. Lmao

One of our favorites at the store I worked at.
Sounds GREAT into big Fender combo amps like the Twin.

    On the Crate...
I have the g130c XL head, and that stupid clean channel is a force to be reckoned with. One of the best kept pedal platform amps ever. As good as my old Lab L5. Maybe better.

In fact, I bought one of those MXR 5150 pedals when they came out. I tried it in every scenario, amps, fx loops, poweramps, ect... the only way I could get it to sound right was through the Crate's clean channel.

I'll try and get one next weekend at the jam spot. That crate amp stays there not here at the house.

.. damn you.. now I got gas...
When I grew up in the 80s, you could basically choose between a tube screamer, a Rat a boss ds1 or sd1.. that's was pretty much it.. for pushing a dirty amp they were fine, but for stand alone distortion.. no... SO much has happened in stompbox distortions since then. And the last year I've had a lot of fun trying out higher end stompers as a budget alternative to trying amps and searching for MY "flyrigg" / jam alternatives.. this one slipped under my radar till now...
    .. sorry valet..

And favourites from the last year
    Carl Martin plexitone
    Mojomojo/sd1 combo
