Hello forum. Been playing guitar for 15 years, but never got around to getting a marshall. Well it was about time, and went for a 1987x and a 1960ax cabinet to go with it. Sounds incredible so far, and want to play more each day. Opened up the 1960ax cab mostly out of curiosity, and to my suprise it seems that there are english made g12m 25 watts in the new cabs, as there were stickers on all four speakers, with made in england on them. Sounds killer either way.

Only thing i struggle a bit with is the hiss or white noise on channel 1. Been trying to read and looks like it is fairly common. pre amp tube or bright cap, may be the culprit or both. But doesnt matter much once its up and cooking either way :)

That is a nice setup! Did you buy new or used? Not that it matters, I am just curious. Post a pic and/or sound clip if you get a chance.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new amp and cab! Those speakers are awesome and my favorites.

Lowering the brite cap will reduce noise and using EH or The Tube Store Preferred Series 7025 12AX& tubes will also help. I have a 100 pF brite cap in mine and use the EH 12AX&'s in her...shes a 1974 version, works and sounds great!

    Welcome! Killer setup!
Yes, current Greenback re-issues are made in UK, at least mine were.

Actually forgot it is a double NAD lol, got a bit of a fun amp last week aswell. Play bass in a band, and got a really good deal on a JCM 800 1992 Bass series from 1989. It was such a good sound both for bass and guitar i could not pass on it. And heard they are a little rare, at least up here in Scandinavia.

Welcome! I believe that model has an effects loop. If you are hesitant about making mods, just buy a noise gate pedal and put it in the loop. That has worked well for me in the past. Good luck!

If the amp has an FX loop a Boss NS2 is your friend.

Also make sure the impedance is correct in which OHMS input you are plugging in your cabinet to the amp head

Thanks all. Yeah the 1987x does have a fx loop. And I do have a ns2 pedal, so will definitly try that. Cab is 16, and head is set on 16, so all good there :) Im just used to a really quite amp I think. Been playing a dual showman reverb from early 70s, and it is scary dead quite, even with full original valve set. They sure knew how to make em back in the day :)

I am not sure if that is correct , do you have the owners manual ? If not please look online for this information because you don't want to harm anything .
