    Hi Everyone,

I just finished making a video of my 1982 Marshall 2204, that was modded by Reinhold Bogner in the 80s and then rebuilt by me to a different Bogner mod.

At first, I really had problems making the amp sound good with Impulse Responses.
I tried the amp through 4 different cabs and it always sounded killer, but it doesn't handle IRs as well as my other amps.
After testing many different IRs, I think I finally got a good sound with my setup, although it still sounds so much better through a real cab.

What do you think of this amp?

Sounds great on my end, I could play that like no tomorrow.
    Cheers to posting it.

It's definitely got that hot rodded 80's tone to it and playing :).
What IRs were you using? Seems odd an amp would have issues with IRs. How are you using them?

    Nice work .
i loved the sound at 7:31, whatever it was.
That amp sounds like hair metal band, all of them from the eighties.
Did they all have Bogner on a retainer?

Yeah, when I first plugged into the "original" amp, I was just blown away, because it instantly had that 80s Metal sound that I love.
I tried different Ownhammer IRs and settled on the FMAN ones. I mixed two different mic IRs to get that sound.

Thanks! With the gain at 8, it's even too much for me lol, but it's awesome for leads. I mostly have it between 4 and 6.
I know that the old U.D.O. records from the late 80s and early 90s had Bogner modded Marshalls on them.
Reinhold also did a lot of work for recording studios when he moved to LA in 1989, so there are probably loads more Bogner modded Marshalls on those classic Metal records than we realize.

that amp would be great for recording, you'd blend it with other flavors.

    Yeah, it definitely would be!
I'm gonna take it to a buddy of mine in a few weeks, along with all my other modded Marshalls, and then we're gonna crank the amps and record some videos with his Matamp 4x12 :D

I find the Ownhammer IR's to be very articulate and pristine. I love them for cleans. For crunch and leads, I am really liking the Suhr 412 Greenback HiGn 121/57 IR and the Celestion Lynchback. Both sound better to me with the 2203X and 2555 Jubilee.

To be honest, I mic my 1960BX with Greenbacks with both an e609 and e906. The Suhr 412 GB HiGn 121/57 IR almost sounds "identical". I do have to tweak the EQ just a little to make it identical. I have to increase the bass and lower the treble and presence just little bit and it is right there.

No offense but why in the world would you RE mod something that Bogner modded?

For the reason that I wrote above. I compared 3 Bogner modded Marshalls and the one I bought was by far the worst.
I then got the chance to put the exact same circuit from the best of the 3 into mine.
