I think I want it-
Anyone else have it on their radar?
I have the regular BB 15 combo...
It's has amazing tone and some really good features,
but I'm afraid that the amount of hum/hiss that comes from
cramming all that high gain circuitry into a square metal tube wasn't a smart idea.
I'm hoping they've addressed that issue on the BB 30.
I've relegated mine down to another clean pedal platform amp I'm afraid. Stays hum free that way.
I'll also say this, this newer Fender high-gain flavor they've come up with is a LOT different than what you'd expect. There are no "Marshall mids" in this thing. The mid focus in this circuit starts full zero in the more 'blackface' era, then full up it hits the perfect 'tweed' era style of mids...which may get near old JTM/Plexi ish zone at best.
So if this new BB 30 is the same as the BB 15,
The little 007 is pretty badass!
I have a 007. I swapped both preamp tubes for NOS low gain ones, swapped in NOS into the power amp, and changed the speaker for an alnico gold. Its now a great low volume pedal platform. Puts out around 4 watts.
Fender should have revised the Machete - that was a real nice one, but really heavy, too.
Anybody get a hold of one of these yet? There aren't many reviews online about this and just the typical poorly done YT demos.
Aside that, there is a video of Andertons:
I'd save a bunch and get a Stage Right 15 watter. $200 and tone wise it kills. Build wise? Cheap. Tone is there in the circuit. I'm still laughing how good this amp should not sound.
just a thought while you're wanting the Fender.
SolarburnDSL50 ain't kidding, this little guy kicks sum butt!
Found this clip on youtube..
What's funny is it actually sounds fun! I'm having a blast with it.
There is a hype with this amps, Darrell Braun got one, too:
And Monoprice raised the price - but it's still a bargain.
It delivers. Tone wise. When I got mine yesterday the speaker baffle was jacked. I reached in from the back and pushed it back. It worked.
The amp circuit is good to go. The outer combo build? You see where the money is saved. It's a loud 15 watts too. I'm still smiling playing it and I've got plenty of amps. Didn't need it but I liked what I heard. It panned out. Fun amp. Great blues rock amp.
I would give it a try if it was sold in Europe with a 230V mains voltage transformer. Have sent a query to Monoprice if they have plans for the future to do so.
