Hi all, I was hoping someone here may be able to point me in the right direction regarding grill cloth. I have been asked to replicate an early 60's white Plexi stack and am currently trying to identify the grill cloth used by Marshall at that time. I have found a few images online but nothing in high enough definition to be sure, I am currently under the impression that it may be the small weave cane but any information or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From the text in your post I don’t think you are aware of the time line.
The first guitar cabs (63/64) used RS vynide cloth. It was used by a lot of people but impossible to find big pieces nowadays. (Replica can be found in certain London dealers) I sent a chunk of spare original to pleximaster last year for a project.
After that came the pinstripe until late 67 (and early 68 for PA) when the salt n pepper basketweave started. There were some custom colours that used the cane mono colour in late 68s.

Unfortunately I am not educated in the Marshall time line, ordinarily I build extension cabs of my own designs, this is a project for a friend and puts me in need of the knowledge of others. If it is helpful, i have attached the image my friend originally sent me to match.
The tolex and piping I have covered but the grill cloth eludes me.
    Thanks.

    Ah, ok.
Late 60s (68-71) and a slightly faded Salt n Pepper basket weave.
Various suppliers do it - depends on where you are in the world.

Great information, and very much appreciated.
I'm based in the U.S. and usually use mojotone or ce distribution for supplies, both carry the Marshall salt and pepper, but if anyone has opinions on better suppliers I am always open to suggestions.
