My wife and I are hoping to leave NJ ASAP.

Another morsal or fly in the ointment.....................New Jersey has an exit tax.

It is what it is because it's worth it.

    Wth is an exit tax???

I know all the roads are tolls for some unfathomable reason, but what do they do, detain you at gunpoint if you try to ride a Uhaul out????

    NJ really sucks.

If you do not own just pack up and leave one night, to another state far away. If not I feel sorry for you being born or having been stranded in that cesspool.

If you give Adieu a dollar he will swap with you. I understand he will do pretty much anything for a buck.

It's a tax on exiting home owners.

I think, hopefully soon, my wife and I will take our motor home to tour the United States.

If we do this for a couple of years and pay the utilies and maintenance on our Howell home, maybe we can skip without the exit tax.

I've toyed with the idea of leaving the US all together.

    Canada and Spain sound good.

Yeah, the roads and the drivers in Lakewood are really bad.

There's a WaWa on Countyline Rd. that always has this pandhandler near the front garbage bin that's alaway asking for a hand out.

After I handed this guy some coins, I noticed he had on boutique sneakers.

Those sneakers are more expensive than my shoes.

I went in the WaWa......got my coffee...........this MF is in the store buying cigarettes and, as we were leaving, this guy lets the door close on me when I had my hands full.

    Boy am I an ass.

Axe, I drive into and out of Lakewood everyday. I work there and travel across the state to get there daily. I used to take 295/195/9 and then go right through the middle of Lakewood, pass the lake, and the turn toward the ballpark but had too many close calls with the Jews. (For those of you who don't know, I believe Lakewood has the second largest population of hasidic Jews in the USA....if you don't know what hasidic Jews are, think part Amish [as they keep to themselves], part unfriendly European immigrant, and mostly part jerkoff). They drive like maniacs and will literally pull out in front of you from a dead stop almost like they are trying to get hit. They have settled Lakewood and are running longtime non hasidic residents out by buying up property and surrounding non-hasidics and then running the neighborhoods down and then finally forcing the holdouts to sell.

So yea, I drive with them everyday and have changed my route to Rt70. It takes me about 15 minutes more each way, but I'm out of the hasidic drivers in minutes and then have a scenic ride home through the pine barrens.

    So true.

I live in Howell, NJ just north of Lakewood, NJ.

There's just no hiding place for safe driving in Lakewood.

    It's just unsafe.

I know dealing with these residents is dificult because I deal with them first hand.

Try dealing with Sephardic Jews..............that's a whole new experience.

The Hisidics are the minor league compared to Sephardic Jews.

    I'm not Hancock but he's a hero.:eddie:

A former Jewish customer, who was extremely difficult, wanted me to "assist" him at a private gymn in Deal.

I was told not to say a word to these residents and my former client, also a Jew, said that "these Sephardics look down upon him".

    OK, so I was mum.

Some 12 year old (around that age) had words with my customer.

I looked at the kid and he had some nasty words for me...........to this pricks surprise, I told him to get his father so that I could beat the shit out of his dad in front of him because he raised such a horrible insect like him. This kid turned white as loose leaf paper and didn't say another word.

    I'm really not like this.

I think once you get challenged and stand up, you have to be prepared to get your ass kicked but don't care, as long as, you get your shots in.

I wasn't about to have a turd like this talk to me that way.

Anyway, Lakewood roads and drivers are really bad.:orly:

    I don't know.

I think it's based on the tax and the value of the house.

New Jersey exit tax is either 8.97% of the profit on the sale of their home or 2% of the total selling price – whichever is higher. Hire a Jewish cpa to help you out with that.

What you are describing is not an exit tax. It is just the tax on profit which is considered income and figured in with state tax and such at year end.

The law requires sellers of New Jersey homes to pay the state tax in advance of moving out of state. The object being so New Jersey residents can't move out of the state without first paying taxes on the income from the sale of their home. In many cases that is sort of moot because if there is no profit on the sale, there is no tax and those who estimated and paid before they moved get refunded any excess, so most of the quailing is just more privileged rage.

It's a "whichever is higher" law, so... no tax seems improbable.

It'll just be 2% in most cases unless your value skyrocketed

Yes I see. They seem to want money up front even if you take a loss on the sale. That is bad and sad for the property owner.

In Jersey? I hear the market there is tanking. I'll bet most folks are underwater on their mortgage.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Funny thing (really not funny), I paid off the last 10 years of my mortgage with 1 check about 15 years ago.

What's ironic about it is that I'm living from paycheck to paycheck now.

    I'm a long way from earning $4k to $16 K a week.

    Those were the days..........

That is total bullshit...why anyone would live in that state is beyond me...just another way to screw people over, promote renting versus owning, and it’s another state run buy “them”, don’t figure? IMO, any state located in the northern latitude portion of this Country is completely phucked up including the State I live in.

    What state is Taintville located?

I know it is a state of oppression but what is the actual state?

And its not just the north.

Margate, NJ from Howell, NJ is a long way across the NJ shore.

    It's bizzarro world driving.

Seems like many drivers on the Parkway just got their driver's license.

It used to be a joke for me, but after 35+ years, I'm getting crazy.

Which brings me back to the hatred of driving through Lakewood, NJ.

The mentally challenged drivers there are just a demented experience.

I keep telling myself, "It's almost over".........but I'll do it again tomorrow.
