When and if the day comes where I can afford to buy a new amp that is in the modded plexi category, this is what I'm going to get. In my opinion, and to my ears, the way David voices his amps is what I want to hear most of all. It's RIGHT. To me. I'd take this over any Friedman, any Fortin, any Egnater, any Bogner, any Mesa, any Ceriatone, and any factory Marshall I've ever heard. You may not be aware of David Bray's amps, but you SHOULD. He customizes the voicing of every amp he makes to the player who orders it, and you get two free revoicings at no charge. (You cover shipping costs.)
Always liked his stuff. Almost bought a Bray modded 1987X, but chickened out at the last minute. Only cuz I'm cheap.
Actually I think Bray have the most great "Marshall" tone in Youtube (And I have 3 Friedman amps...) Would love to hear it live or compare to my amps. But, anyway, can't afford his price. And nowadays I only buy low wattage (20W max) and small heads amps.
I own a marshall ( JCM 800 1988 ) that David Bray modded. It's pretty bad ass. Price is STEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! I supplied the amp and it still hit me over the head. Then again I had to ship both ways as well.
