I have a friend who has hearing impairment due to Military Service. He asked that I build him one of my mods with more highs and stiffer. Upon receiving the amp he decided that it was not to his liking so I requested he ship it back to me so I may rework it giving it more sag and darker tone. I totally reworked the NFB to include the Presence. Then filtering and preamp tweaks. Of course all work at no additional cost, only three preamp tubes (Chinese) & shipping. Part 1. Part 2.
Sounds effin' killer! It doesn't even sound super loud in the room yet it's got high volume punch, great work!
Thanks guys. Very humbling statements. Thank you. I just use my ears when trying to capture someone’s wishes. Kind of like cooking, take my time using care and taste it as I go along lol. David
Very impressive. You're getting quite a tone! But in the interests of making better demo videos, I humbly suggest that you up your game with regard to your recording setup. Having videos with good clear honest audio can only help you to sell more jobs.
Thank you for the kind words. Yes I could use a condenser Mic but I would NEVER use a SM57 off of the speaker as that is not a true representation of the real tone, only a spot off of the speaker IMO after recording & Engineering 5 CD's. Just my opinion as you are not the first to make such a suggestion. I hear advertisements that are clearly over produced through EQ and Compressor's. Need to keep it real. Much like a Phone Video at a live concert. Through my Studio amps and speakers it sounds live and "real" to my ears. David...♫
They both sounded good for what they were. I think if those were his settings then its more on him. Did he give an explanation for the control settings he had there? Does it have an effects loop and was he using it and how? Maybe other things can make differences and tell us a story.
Nice. I watch all your videos. I hope it's fair to say that you have really improved as a tech over the years. You have a good ear for tuning an amp. Keep up the good work David.
Thank you so very much black night. I appreciate the encouraging words. I use what I have learned and been taught with my ears. Being a guitarist gives me a bit of an advantage over some as I often push the envelope. If the guitar cannot track and produced clarity while using the tool of speed in addition to sustaining feed back of long holding bent notes the amp is useless for me and other players of the 80s genre. Respectfully, David Hopkins
