Cruise ships are floating petri dishes when there isn't a pandemic. Why someone would board one when COVID-19 was already going strong is beyond me.

I predict more artificial reefs coming soon...

Once that shit gets into the air ducts / bilge of a ship, who's gonna rip the ship apart to clean it out?

    2. Problem Two: Mosquitoes
When a mosquito bites an infected person.................I'm not sure you want to go there?
Now the infected mosquito lays eggs, take it away! Hereeeeeeer's Johnny!
    Hay boy, you gotta problem.

I think that may be on somebody's mind right about now...;.....

The mosquito thing? Not sure that will be something to worry about. They thought AIDs could be transferred that way but it was never verified AFAIK.

My brother went on a cruise and returned about 3 weeks ago. They are ok thank God.. This is not the time to do that crap..

Love the "artificial reef" reference … The Cruise Industry will always be popular, they could advertise a boat load of Zombies and the full blown Black Plague and people would line up like sheep to buy tickets... How many cases of cruise ship food poisonings, flu cruises and missing persons have there been over the years...it doesn't seem to phase the sheople that sign up for these "all inclusive" pandemic packages...buuduh.

Sure, just add to the list of other sh!t these good for nothing insects already have - Malaria, Zika, Western Equine Encephalitis that just started showing up more in the states this fall, Dengue fever, West Nile Virus... and the list goes on.

I get the whole food chain and all that insects play role in. Flies lay eggs on dead animals so their maggots eat the rotting meat, bees pollinate, etc., But what contribution do mosquitos make to the environment? None that I know of unless you count population control. I know fish eat their larvae and bats eat the adults, but I would think there are plenty of other things for fish and bats to eat if mosquitos didn't exist.

Now a mosquito infected with Malaria, Zika, Western Equine Encephalitis that just started showing up more in the states this fall, Dengue fever, West Nile Virus...
bites a person infected with SARS.
Then the viruses mutate inside the mosquito to form a new mega virus.

I hope not. The industry employs more than 75,000 generating almost $78m in wages. That does not include the income generated in ports of call for restaurants bars souvenir shops etc.

that's like someone was passing around a meme, about the casinos closing down & losing money, laughing because now it's their turn to lose for once & see how it feels...

I know a few people who work at casinos, where there are 10,000 employees. The closure of casinos also meant closing the accompanying hotels, so 10,000 people got pinkslipped for a month (now extended) & that's 1 casino, in Laughlin, not counting all the others & in Vegas, which some are a lot bigger.

Needless to say, I didn't find that meme too funny. When I told the guy who I know, that posted it, he told me I'm "sensitive" & should lighten up, it was just a joke...

Try telling that to all the thousands (100s of 1,000s?) of people who got pinkslipped for the month +. He works for UPS. Just think if everybody at UPS got pinkslipped, how he'd feel about it?

I also know travel/entertainment booking agents who live in Vegas. Guess what happened to their industry?

Yeah, that's too bad. Otoh I really don't care if cruise lines cease to be so popular.
Some company wanted to start coming here. When you actually look at the money they bring to the local economy it's not so great; at least it wouldn't be here. Those ships are also environmental disaster areas-grey water, ballast discharge, air pollution, garbage offloads. Who needs it. I'm glad the city denied them port.
