Anyone play through one of these? Its loaded with V30s and apparently 13 ply??? I found on in very nice condition for relatively cheap and thinking why not.
A plywood 4x12 cab with V30s is gonna be pretty close to any other, unless it's loose or rattly or has strong distinguishing characteristics (frontload, ported, halfback, etc) And most issues CAN be DIY'ed
Picked it up for $250 Canadian. 2006 model with Celestion V30s in it barely used. Metal handles and pretty sturdy castors. Heavier than my Marshall Lead a 412 and full plywood construction. Now to put my 2210 through it and have some fun
Hell yeah that's a great cab! There are a few great plywood 4x12's with v30's ect... that just get passed over, mostly because of the emblem on the front. So basically you got a whole cab for the cost of two v30's. Well done.
I'm looking at a bv412s for $120 in what looks like decent shape. I'm sure it probably has crappy speakers, but I have a set of stock Celestions from my mid 2000s 1960b to throw in it. How does the construction compare with a 1960?
Crate Cabs were pretty robust. I had a Crate 4x12 from the 90's with Celestions (crappy ones). The cab itself was all plywood (carpet material on it) and it was rugged as hell. I ended up putting Eminence Swamp Things and Texas Heats in there and it sounded great. Much better than the Celestion Rocket 50's that it came with. Different cabs from different eras will be...different. The Crate Cab I had was dimentionally the same as a 1960B cab... only difference in construction is the Marshall had Tolex, the Crate had the carpet/cloth shit.
Heres some info I found when researching them. Its from sevenstring.com. This cab is built pretty well man, like wakjob said there are alot of cabs that are looked over because of the name on it.
I've heard only good things about crate bv cabs. I think they're the cheapest good cabs loaded with v30s around.
