Is it me or os there no volume knob
jpeg artifacts of the whammy bar have obscured it.
So yes... it's just you
It looks like it has been removed, but only the knob, the pot is still there! Cheers Mitch
To me, it looks like too many saves as a jpeg file, the artifacts have ruined most of the image, the whole area around the whammy bar and controls is just a mess now... always the way around sharp edges, and around details, in jpeg compression. No way would Jimi play without the control's knobs fitted, plus it would be "a thing" all over teh interwebz if he ever had. Muppets would be removing the knob from their volume pot to make sure they got Jimi's "tone" perfectly, retro kits would be available to help you make your strat more accurately "Jimified"...
Harder to inadvertently operate a pot with no knob... could be helpful when playing lefty on a flipped right-hander
Although really why the hell he didn't just BUY a lefty guitar at this point in his career is kinda odd. Special order shouldn't have been much of a barrier for a superstar
That's the shaft of the pot, the plastic knob has fallen off at some stage, recently, as it would be a swine to operate. Artifacts/pixells caused from an enlarged pic with a printers screen or a low dpi would generally be all over the image.
They are... look at his barnet, look at his right (our left) shoulder, look at his cheek that faces the camera...
Jimi Hendrix at a recording session for the Isley Brothers, 1965.

The Sandpipers of Pensacola FL backed by... wait a minute! Young Howard Duane Allman and the Allman Joys
When i was playing thrash metal with a regular Strat i always took off the volume knob because my picking hand was constantly rolling down the volume..............
Nice JBL D-series drivers in that open-back cabinet!
