Hello out there, I am new here and was hoping to get some info on an amp I just picked up and maybe the value. This is what I know so far. Its a 1987 jcm 800 lead series 2210. I was told it is a Canadian made, it has a switch for 4 to 8 ohm and nothing more. el 34 tubes and a drake transformer and looks original. I will post pics as soon as I find out how to. Thanks a bunch in advance for any advice, opinions etc....rock on

Congrats! Sounds like a great amp!! Value will vary a lot deoending on your location. If you use Imgur or Flikr you can post the pics there then here using the Insert Picture Icon with the url of your pictures. Does it have the nice metal toggle switch? I have a Canadian JCM800 4010 and my original 1987 Silver Jubilee I bought new. Neither one has a 16 ohm tap. Jube has a breaker on back jnstead of fuse. Kjnd of nice.
Cheers and welcome to the forum.

Thanks a bunch, yes it has the metal toggle switch and a round dail with a flat head slot you turn to 4 or 8 ohm. I am located in Southern Alberta, Canada and have read that these amps are a bit on the rare side. I will definately get to posting pics soon, it says the file is too large so I will try imgur or flikr.

    Congrats on new amp.
    I have an 83 jcm800 2204 Canadian export.
No 16 ohm tap is not a problem for me.
I hook up to my 412 at 4 ohm.

Its a problem if you have 16 ohm [only] cabs like i do.
Same reason ive never owned MESA MK II or III heads, 8 ohm outs.

I recently picked up a CSA 1984 JCM 800 2203 in mint shape. Metal toggle switchs, No 16 Ohm. Sounds incredible!! I'll never get rid of it!

Rare? Nah. All Canadian exports are like that. And all mine are Canadian. As for what it’s worth? Depends.

Sounds like my white 1983 I bought new. Then traded in 1987 for my Jubilee. D'oh!
I'm not sure why the CSA people felt there should be no 16ohm setting. The tranny must have a tap for it. Extra fuses inside aren't a bad idea but I nevver heard why the 16 ohm thing.

I tried a 1x12 version of 2210 once, the 4211. I just didn't care for it tonally as much as a 4010. It has way too much presence pre set in it with no control. More gain than a 4010 but I can run an OD in front. Nice amp though. Just not my taste.

Nope, no 16 Ohm tap on the tranny. I own a few and have owned quite a few more.

Really not needed in our neck of the woods anyhow. All 800 cabs and a fair chunk of 900 cabs are 8 ohm.

The extra fuse board is quite nice. Quite “idiot proof”.

CSA electrical standards were just much more strict back in the day.

Hell, we didn’t even get horizontal input (PCB mounted pots) Marshall’s until some time in ‘88. USA got them early ‘84

2210 has the best lead tone I ever heard in my life.
Unfortunately it is so freaking loud ... unbelievably loud ....
