Do they just prevent the bullet from coming out of your back and hitting other people?
It's for running away
Although imho steel toed footwear with a nice springy heel is sadly underrated for success in stampedes
PS also, if the dumbazz kids lugged all the books we did back in our day, their backpacks would already be fully equipped to stop bullets. And they'd be way fitter and thus better prepared for running away
Then again, if they WEREN'T dumbazz kids, they'd just ditch the ballast for better speed and instead position themselves at the forefront of the stampede and use their dumber, slower, and backpack-laden peers as shields
As a gun owner I kind of want to get defensive and start that whole deal but your post was absolutely amazing. Well said my friend, well said.
Sorry,late night dark humor.
If you actually think of the back pack it is ridiculous, and somewhat silly.Loss of life is not funny.Bullet proof bk packs, quite the joke.
Obviously the idea is the pack can be used in front of the body as well as an extra defense.
I read that there has been no significant testing so it's not clear they will even work. Very expensive though.
To me it represents another low point for U.S. society-
A- Some folks are gonna make big bucks off these things by cynically exploiting people's fears
B- How did we even get to the point that this is needed
C- It just further conditions us to accept this as the new normal
With law enforcement becoming more and more militarized and considering the amount of people that get shot by cops every year, why not?
Amen brother.Security starts at the entrance of any establishment. My own small town court house has a pretty high tec metal detector.Nobody is getting in with something as small as a pocket knife.Inconvienient perhaps, but what is the price of life compared to time.
For every one person shot by a Cop there are a couple hundred shot by opposing gang members
Very true. Why wasn't this latest mass shooting all over the news?
Well, that article about sums it up, todays media is sooo phucked up I have nothing left to say!
That article is nonsense. CNN, ABC, FOX, NPR, CBS, NBC, USA Today, The Washington Post, New York Times, McClatchy and other news outlets all carried the story.
They give people the illusion of security.
Airport type security wont stop all shootings, but it would have stopped several school shootings.Back packs are for books snacks love letters etc.Let's give our kids some pro type security at the door. And the media just makes this crap worse.Dirty laundry comes to mind.
I bet if deer could vote they would take away our cars.
Try reading the article with some comprehension! The article lists the news outlets that covered the story and discusses what was not mentioned.
Sad but true I guess. I've said it before but I'm glad to have grown up prior to school shootings.
The article starts with a false premise. The Mobile, Alabama event is not technically a mass shooting because nobody died. Even so the football shooting has been well covered and if you look at the articles the shooter is identified and his photo is posted. The article is just needless baiting, obviously.
I had actually thought of starting a thread about this topic but then figured what's the point....it'll probably just turn into another lame gun debate or something else stupid...sure enough. lol
I like this though-
"Try reading the article with some comprehension!"
The problem here is that too many people honestly think that the problem can be solved by piling even more legislation on top of everything that is already on the books, which doesn’t make any sense at all. If somebody is determined to go out and kill others, that person has already decided that laws don’t matter.
I am aware you didnt classify what this animal did but thats completely ignorant and ridiculous, not a shooting, were bullets not fired, then its a shooting. Did no one get hit, just because no one died, bull crap, its a shooting. And this is exactly what the article is about, finding ways to down play terror events caused by...well Ill leave it at that!
