So my other guitarist left his Bugera at my house...I went to try it out...Holy shit...It sounds pretty freaking good...He is willing to sell it to me 350 to 400 dollars..What do you think?? Sell my AVT and get it?

Just wondering, whats it dated? If it's before 2009, then skip it. Thats when they were known for having reliability issues. But if it is from that period and is still alive, then maybe it doesn't matter.

And if he does wanna sell it, talk him down to like $325 - $350. :)

Hmmm, I say it's good then. The more recent they are, the better the quality.

Oh, and I believe it's supposed to be based on the Peavey XXX, but it reminds me of a mix of a Peavey 6505/5150 and a XXX. Some people say they're ever closer sounding to a Mesa Rectifier (which the XXX was based on), but it sounds quite a bit tighter, IMO. Very awesome sounding and versatile amp. :)

Be prepared to have it in the shop often. I wouldn't buy anything with "Bugera" written on it. There's a reason they are so cheap.

If your frind still have the receipt, I think you're set.

But if you do end up worrying about the reliability, look for an old Peavey Ultra Plus. They're going to have a somewhat similar voicing, but the Ultra Plus will have more mids and less gain.

But honestly, if the amp lasted 2 years, I'm pretty sure it's solid.

I'm telling you you can get a XXX in Ohio for $400. maybe $650 tops. a Bugera for $200 or LESS. basicaly, that's NOT a good deal;)

Bugera's don't sell to people that know wmps unless they wanna give them a shot for the hell of it or have tech skills and like repairing amps on the cheap.

the 333XL is a great sounding amp but i am giving you some options as well as some deterrants with hopes of sssisting your making a sound (pun intended) decision.

well if you really WANT it though talk him down to $250 and then it's mostly a decent deal. It will likely end up with the heater issue. it takes the amp being on up to 2 hours before it gos into failure to know if it has the issue. The price point out here though is $250 tops for any Bugera and even then it's pushing it.

I think that perhaps if you are going to shop in that market you may wish to look into the B52 AT100. Much smoother saturation and overall tone for the same amount of money it smokes the Buger amps and in my opinion sounds better than the Peavey's!

David's got a point. The B52 AT100's actualy sound really good. to ME they sound and feel a lot like a properly set up Carvin MTS 3200 (which it looks a lot like mechanicaly/electronicaly and they sound really good)

they're not built horribly and they sound pretty damn good and they have a ton of eq options. Then for another cheap one that's surprisingly good are the Carvin MTS3200 (only used, they don't make trhem now) and their V3 units. I've owned both and they're really good amps.
