    Hi,
    LP->1959HW->Fryette PS2->1960AX.

It's pretty cool for early rythm rock tones. But i want to play some Guns n Roses solo stuff also.
    Amp settings is:
    Presence: Noon
    EQ: All noon.
Volume 1: app. 6. (Plugged into upper left input)

What tricks will make this amp get more gain and sustain? Like Sweet Child o mine.

    Thanks:)

If your referring to pedals, almost any Tubescreamer will work, as a clean boost or a more overdriven tones. I also really like the TC Spark Boost, the 4 knob one. That pedal is great imo, and also the EHX SoulFood.

I just got the SoulFood a couple of days ago and man what a phenomenal overdrive pedal, great overdriven tones that don't color the tone of your amp, a very transparent pedal. I highly recommend the SoulFood Overdrive.

    Hi,
    Thanks.
I know that a good drive pedal will work, But will it also make a good sole tone without a extra booster like MXR MC401 ect.?

Well I don't know much about the MXR 401, but isn't that strictly a boost pedal? I mean it'll boost your amp but it doesn't really add any overdrive tones to thicken up your sound does it? The pedals I mentioned will thicken your tone, isn't that what you're really looking for, or maybe I'm not understand you?

Sorry I deleted the link 'cause after watching the whole thing there were no boost O/D or boosts used.
Post it here again if you're interested.

Good points from scozz here. You are also using an attenuator so I presume you have tried dialing that in for more gain? While you dial back the volume on the lp a bit?

Throw an EQ pedal out front to boost your signal I like a GE7 for that, or get an OD pedal like an SD-1. If you want distortion use a Rat pedal. One of the best overall pedals if you dont own any pedals is a Fulltone OCD. :yesway:

GE-7. soo flexible, especially good for GnR tone by boosting the 1kHz and up

    Thanks for the replies.

I don't want to change the tone of the amp.
I have read a lot positive feedback about germanium treble boosters.
Maybe it should try one out - also a OCD, GE7 or SD-1.

Well, I can tell you from experience the Boss SD1 WILL color your tone, it is NOT a transparent pedal.

Brother you would have add a 4th preamp tube and 2 more gain stages.

Mxr 133 gain booster. Worth a look, boosts your existing gain without coloring the tone. Around $80 I think. Mxr makes great stuff.

I had one for about a week, didn't do anything for me. Opinions on pedals, just like opinions on amps, are all subjective. I have the same advice for selecting pedals, as I do with amps, you have to try them for yourself. So many friggin pedals out there, it's overwhelming. I bet the pedal manufacturers look at guitarists the same way a drug pusher looks at a crack addict.

you got that shit right. funny thing for me is there arent but a few that are even usable to me.
to many clones of other pedals out there. 4 dirt boxes and i bet one can have most bases covered
for that tone. a lot of rinse and repeat thats for sure.
