I just finished my new amp build and got the finishing touches put on the cabinet. I just got the Alnico Cream installed and I like what I hear so far!

Mad skills, how much amp building experience do you have?

Yes, I agree, looks very good.
The Cream (90w) is an interesting choice vs the Gold (50w) for a 35w amp.

Thanks! I have built 3 amplifiers (blackface fender champ, tweed deluxe and this JTM45). I have probably built 20+ cabinets over the years though.

I debated long and hard on the Alnico Gold Vs Cream... even considered the Ruby (35w). I haven't played through a Gold personally, but they seem to be a little more aggressive and "in your face" than the Cream or Ruby. From what I've seen, the Ruby seems to be darker, which isn't something I want with a JTM45. Have yet to hear anything bad about the Cream, so I went with it. I am thinking about building a matching 112 extension cab, so maybe an Alnico Gold would a good fit there! I have also been playing this amp through a 4x12 Greenback loaded 19060AV cab and a 112 cab with a G12M65 Creamback. The Alnico Cream definitely has its own thing going on. I am happy with the choice at this point.

Though mines not a combo amp, I use 1 x 12x with my Metro GMP45 head, and also use 90w Cream/Alnico.
George at Metro says his GMP45 head puts out 38w RMS.

I myself like the Cream vs the Gold, but the Gold is a great speaker, but for me a 50w speaker in a 30+w amp isn't enough difference for me. I like all the speaker capacity I can get vs the amp RMS. Id probably just get another Cream.

If I was going to use another modern speaker other than Scumback H55 PVC 65w/SC75 PVC 65w for the Marshall sound.

Id go with a 150w Celestion G12H Redback. I also use these with the Cream, and love them.
