shit you can get a Collins for that price and a sweet amp to boot then STILL have change left over

My bad, the 58 Standard ri's are $8,999 the 59 Standard ri's are $9,999. Like you say alot better options for that cash.

Don't fret ..just wait a couple years on a "pre-owned" and the price will plummet to half the cost of new. That's usually the time to come in on it.

They generally have a couple. Often times beat-up and only good for demo purposes ..same as the last guy did. I would never go shopping for Les Pauls there only to look at their two (usually stereotypical model) lone beaters.

And my 57 Standard ri was $3,200 ($2,800 with my haggle ability), what a joke they are all the same thing any way with different paperwork LOL. I would have gotten a current day Standard for $2K at the time but none were to be had in lefty across the country.

My Custom Shop Axcess Bengal Burst has a nice smooth heel joint for high fret access. As good as any other guitar like this for sure. 500T pickups. Beautiful guitar. Rather than simply rehashing the older models. I have 2 of those as well.

And I bet with that wood missing in the back it cut the weight down quite a bit which is a good thing! I wouldnt mind if my LP was designed like that, mine is heavy, as a result I play my SG 9 out of 10 times. :yesway:

It's also quite a bit thinner too so substantially lighter. For those who say they should be heavy I have 2 other regular bodied LPs. This is a very comfortable modern LP to play. Coil tap on tone pots. Personally I'll take this over any copy.

I got about a dozen or so Les Pauls . I also have an equal amount of Les Paul copies ....from really well built ,to the plywood ones I played in high school

Truth of the matter , one probably couldn't tell if I was playin a Custom Shop LP or a Series 10.......If I didn't tell ya

It is truly a pleasure to wield a fine piece of mahogany Gibson furniture and make it sing ....BUT there are a lotta well made non Gibson (non LP style) guitars out there that can do the same trick as well
I think it's all just a matter of what you really want

They are for playing. Unless you abuse your stuff should be no worries. I play hard, I play out and I enjoy my guitars. But I don't abuse or bang them around. Hardshell case n go!
