I'm 70 years old really starting to slow down. Many health problems these days.. Bad back, type 2 diabetes, worlds of pain. Well for the past two weeks or so, the fingers of my left hand have gone numb. What do you suggest... that I continue to play in or should I stop playing? I'm going to be with my pain specialist on the 14th so that would be a question for them.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Continue as long as you can.

    I'm 65.

I have type 2 diabetis; high blood pressure; went through stage 3 colon cancer.......survived.......2 1/2 years later had stage 4 colon cancer.......survived.

I have blood clots in both arms and my left leg.

    I'm still self employed.

    I drive 200+ miles a day.

    I gig at least 2x a week.

    Do what makes you happy.

******I'm driving my 41' motor home for some time off this weekend************

Numb all the time or when you play?

Is your guitar strap hitting a nerve where it sits on your left shoulder/neck area? My fingers go numb on me when the strap sits and pinches a nerve. I readjust where it sits and the numbness goes away.

I am 59 when I was in my 20’s ,I used to get numbness in my left hand, and mostly at the worst possible times, I quit using the skinny straps and went to wide leather straps that helped that problem, but as others have suggested keep on playing :agreed::eddie:

    Sounds like cubital tunnel syndrome.

    https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/cubital-radial-tunnel-syndrome#1

    https://orthoinfo.aaos.org/en/disea...rapment-at-the-elbow-cubital-tunnel-syndrome/

    I had this issue.

I had surgery many years ago for this.

    What do you suggest...

Become a heroin addict, then you won't feel anything.

    Funny you should say that.

After whipping out my retirement nest egg to pay for cancer treatment (I have medical insurance and I had to pay what wasn't covered), I thought if I was an addict or a helpless drunk, I might have someone else foot the bill.

I survived Stage 3 and Stage 4 colon cancer, I'm a Stage 2 diabetic, have blood clots in both arms and my left leg, had trans ulnar surgery years ago, had cataracts taken care of, recently had a T.I.A. and I'm still working doing 200 to 400 miles driving every day.

    I'm alive and I'm not a barnacle.

I am a carpenter and I get aches and pains all the damm time, but what kills me the most is the drive home, typically a three hour affair when I pull up in my drive way I can barely walk for the first 3 minutes, kinda sucks getting old

Cannabis is what you should have.
Maybe you should move to California, and start a band.

exactly I was gonna say about Badfinger, but then the mood became otherwise solemn.
Maybe I should start a band?
