    ‘Arkansas’ is spelled wrong.

    Yes, yes it is. Absolutely. And why is seen and peen pronounced seen and peen but been is pronounced ben..and then bean is pronounced been? The English language is stupid that's why. But the Arkansaw thing? I think that has to do with someones great great great grandma being a sheep.

    Ok Australia isnt literal either, but it can be worked out .

    But with ‘Arkansas’, I didn’t marry up the written word with the pronounciated word for some time.
    It was the Area 52 of my memory.

    Maybe your study of history doesnt go as far back as 1776?
    Pilgrim or Convict, were both oppressively and unjustly tried and persecuted.

    Spelling is a decadent European concept
    The word itself is a Quapaw word told to the French.....
    That's it , I blame the French ....they fckd up a lotta pronunciations 'round here ....

    The Arkansas River is pronounced "ar-Kan-ses."

    Makes perfect sense, so pronounce this lake in Arkansas...Ouachita...I can tell you now, you're wrong.
    Beautiful lake, BTW...going there in a few weeks.
