Am I the only one thinking about how good those are with vodka lol?
thanks bud. Was definitely interested in what you thought.
Did someone say Mcdonalds ?
I enjoy my barley pops, still smoke a pack a day, my wife has been feeding me healthy foods since we where married, I work outdoors, and still get exercise in the nature of work, and I can still put my palms or back of hand flat on the floor with my feet spread the same width as my shoulders! Cheers
Wow man!! That clip of Stranger brings back so many great memories for me when I was a kid. Always saw Stranger at the Treehouse in Hallandale Beach Fl in the early 80’s. I used to talk with Ronnie about guitars between sets. He was the nicest guy. Those guys were originally called Romeo when I first saw them in Tampa. Ronnie Garvin was a bad ass guitar player. You are right about his tone. It was wicked. It’s ashame what happened to him. What club was that video shot at?
Middle-aged smokers don't last long.
You should give that up bro.
Cause there's nothing like a bleading Deacon pointing the way.
There are all kinds of ways to shorten life span. And those that say this? Can lose their health at anytime and for reasons other than destructive vices. Lots of enemies to our bodies. Some self induced...some not.
Friedman uses JJ so... what are you referring to ?
I got one
Haha, guess you're (quite literally) one in a million ! I never ever saw one in Paris, or any of the big brick and mortar shops here in the southeast.
That was shot at Fern Park Station in Fern Park, FL. I first saw them in 1979 at Fern Park Station as Romeo. I think it was '79? They were doing a lot of Van Halen and UFO covers at that time. Phil Moog asked Ronnie to join UFO, but he tuned the gig down. Phil Moog and Paul Chapman use to come into FPS quite a bit in those days, along with Ritchie Blackmore, and Pat Travers.
Damn shame what happened. I heard Ronnie was battling depression. The band breaking up, marital issues, excessive consumption, etc... Who knows for sure? One thing is certain, he could play! I talked with him quite a bit in the early days. I had some songs that I wrote back in '86 that I was going to give to Ronnie, but I never got the chance. I heard they had gotten back together, but I refused to attend those shows. No Ronnie Garvin - no Stranger.
Well it is really cool that you referenced him. I was very surprised that someone on this forum would have the same history of seeing Stranger like I do. I saw the revamped Stranger about 3 years ago at a radio station event. The original Stranger material sounded so dated. Even Swamp Woman did not have that magic. They are a different band with a slight nod to their history. I still have the original LP they put out. I really thought then that they were going to be a huge band but they lind of stalled. Anyway great memory lane post.
Is Greg Billings singing with the band?
Nope he's been using EH tubes since last year due to JJ's taking a shit too often.
My reference was to smoking "a pack a day" and being middle aged a few posts back.
That shit will kill you.
*Predict smokers will say "you gotta die of something."
The Friedman amps are a nice variety of newer circuits, but just hearing them on line, I'll stick with Marshall. I've played them since the 1960's and they are all I'll ever need.
I'll be 71 in a couple of weeks, and playing since 1957. I'm still playing in a 6 piece rock band, and still loving the Marshall sounds.
While there are other amps which approach Marshall sounds, there is really only one original. Why play copies? ymmv
Yes he was. I think it is called the Greg Billings band now. Tom king is playing bass so half the Stranger lineup is there. John Price also passed away.
John Price is gone too? Natural causes?
I not sure man. Stranger was a force back in their prime. Glad I saw them many times.
