Anyone into gardening, landscaping, golf course peeps, forestry etc.? I ve been in the hort industry for 20+ yrs and I am learning a ton still. Started out in the treeplanting side, got into college and then climbed trees and landscaped for another 18 yrs. Now I am into the turf side and in charge of taking care of sportsfields in our city of 70,000. I love it and I m super lucky to have made a career of it

I grew up working on Nurseries and on Landscaping Crews when I was in high school and in college. I still enjoy doing my own landscaping and like a well trimmed bush!

I like gardening. I live in town so it is small with just some raised beds I built. Always grow tomatoes, onions, peppers etc. Had a great year this year.
This is the time when it sucks...I'm all out of garden fresh tomatoes now :(
I found this tomato that grew a stiffy a few years ago:

My horticulture teacher was Mr. Horace Bean.
He really didn't like me because I was a long haired guitar playing hippy who held hands with girls in the classroom.
One day I planted something fun in the greenhouse.
"That's damned hemp!" exclaimed Mr. Bean. He pulled it from the bed and threw it into the trashcan.
From then on he gave me shitty grades, although I did join 4H and FFA just to make him happy...

Anyone ever see that Simpson's episode with the Tomacco? Lol

I'm a farmer's kid. I was probably conceived with the notion of having extra help around...

One might say I know a thing or two about growing things. I mean, there's lots I don't know too, but, I know a thing at least, or two.

If you thought that was interesting.
Later that year (2016) on the same plant ( a hybrid named 4th of July ) I got Mr. limpy.
Here is a pic with both. You can see stiffy behind after ripening a bit.
BTW, I never chanced eating either.

    This is a true story!

Early this past summer the Boyz are over to rehearse, have a few beers and a good time. I order a pizza. Tye doorbell rings and when I open the door here is this cute young girl maybe 23 standing there with the pie. She was the delivery person. As I am getting my money out of my wallet, shes looking at my landscaping (bushes) and then says, wow, these bushes look awesome, they are trimmed so well its amazing everything looks so good. Who trims your bushes and I say I do. Shes says wow, you are so skilled in bush trimming and then says I love well trimmed bushes!!!:wow: By this point I'm like WTF is going on here and am I being Punked here no way not to mention big Jim and the twins are wide awake at this point. I didn't say a word other than tank you and thanks for noticing my well trimmed bushes. There was soooo much I could have said that came to mind I was blown away. When I told the guys, they laughed their asses off. One of them said I should have offered her my skills...LOL!
