A friend of mine just dropped off his (slightly modded)'68 Marshall Major to me for some of my fire breathing mods.
He asked me if I would make some video clips of the work in progress as well as some sound clips with his guitar and my guitars. I thought it was a good idea as so many people have asked me over the years about my amp so the interest is definitely out there to do this.
After I finish the mods I will be doing comparison sound clips with my '68 Major.
So I'll be updating this thread with lots of video clips as my work progresses along.
I hope you will enjoy the thread.
    Cheers, Michael

Pictures of the amp and how it stands right now.

Michael, with these mods can you get a decent clean like an original Major?

Do not forget some good pre-modification video playing the same progressions and riffs.

    You absolutely can.
I usually roll my guitar volume for cleans but I can dial in some great clean tones with the amp.
It's something I'll do in my up coming videos, dial in clean tones. :yesway:

    That's a great idea. :yesway:

It's actually what I'm doing right now.
I want to make some sound clips of the amp as is before I tear into it. :)

Even with my 100 watt JMP. OWM, I can get some nice cleans.

Well, I ran into a bit of a problem but it's under control now.
The amp has a blown treble pot (250KL) that needs to be replaced so once get it and install it, the amp is finished.
Then I can edit all the video I made while modding the amp and also start working on sound clips.

Incredible Michael!! Thanks for posting the video on what you did to mod the amp. Sounds amazing and you were so easy to understand. Much better than stock IMHO. Great job and hope people can send you their amps and have you do similar mods to theirs. That is quite a talent and skill you have there my friend!!

Thank you DP for all the kinds words and taking the time to watch the vids. This amp was sent to me for mods and is my first time modding a Major for someone else. I think he's going to be happy with his amp when he comes to pick it up this week. :)
I'd love to keep it for myself. :D

Here's one more sound clip of my Ibanez Jem and my Major recorded with the same setup in the same room.
