Call me crazy may'be I'm just a perfecrionist and get caught up in image too much but I've seen some names of amps/ gear that I just shake my head at. Wangs amps lol really? why not just call it boner amps . notone amps and pickups, newer co. ,so basically your telling the world your product sounds like shit lol.The names of friedman's amps have been talked about ad nauseum so no need to go into it.A name projects and conveys something most of the time to it's audience,if it was me I'd choose a little wiser if I owned a start up company imo.

I've heard of Hotone, and thought "Notone" must be a typo. But no, some idiot really did name his amp company "Notone".

Hotone is bad too -- I'm not sure if it's supposed to be pronounced "hot one" or maybe "hot tone", but in my head it always reads "ho tone".

Wangs. I'm a little inured to that. Back in the early '90s I used to drive by the Wang Laboratories campus in Dallas every day. They were a huge computer company but I always pictured Dr Frankenstein making giant dicks. But the "heh heh, he said "Wang", heh heh" gradually wore off. Now I just accept that it's a common Chinese surname that's older than the English language.

But yeah, the family name wasn't the best choice to use in the English speaking world.

Fuchs and Koch used to make me giggle until I learned they were "Fooks" and "Coke".

I thinkthe mentioned "No Tone" is actually "NuTone" but with a screwy logo that makes it difficult to be certain! And yeah, my brain often sees "HOTONE" as @RLW59 does as "Ho Tone!"

    There is/was a NuTone company.

But there also is a Notone company:
    https://notoneamps.com/

On one of their blurbs they say:

    We "no" great tone

Bugera and Joyo. I refuse to support any company that makes its money by blatantly ripping off the work of others.

Wangs is a Chinese company, so the name choice is pretty understandable....
