Never heard a DSL I liked.
    Haze sucks.
    Origin is better than both.

I use (1) 0f these (3)...Fulltone OCD, Xotic BB or Xotic RC Booster...they all sound good and have their own tone

One of the clips is only the SD1.
The other one is a combination of the SD1 and MXR10 band eq, plus a 3210 lead 100 mosfet on the clean channel at 2, this Origin 50H rocks , and yes it is a very clean amp.
Perfect pedal platform as everyone calls it.
    My working mans Plexi.
    Cheers brother

I have both, and bye doing a preamp tube swap have been able to tame the fizz, but you need to bring the volume up to get it to sing.
    Cheers

Get a hand truck and have big tone. I have used one for well over 30 plus years and its worth it. get a strap to use with the hand truck as it will keep stuff from falling off. Also get a weight lifting routine as it also helps and our body responds well to weight training. seriously. good luck with your choice.

Having listened to Mitch's clips earlier I would say buy any amp you like and have him come round and set it for you. Sorted. :dude:

Actually I jam occasionally with a guy who uses a haze and apart from the fact that he has waaay too much bass on it the thing is a match for my 40CR. And they're a bargain if you find a well looked after one.

I listened through all of your clips in this thread and you seem to get great tone out of everything you plug into. I used to be in a band with a guitarist like that - give him any amp you like and he'd plug in, twiddle for a couple of seconds and sound just great. If tone is really in the fingers then he had it. Personally I suspect it's in the ears. Me you could give me the best rig on the planet and I'd spend half an hour messing around and sound average. I'm not bitter though.
I'll stop now - people will talk about us....

I finally decided I’m going to give the origin 50 a try...thinking back to my hey days i picked the Marshall plexi because of its mid range sound and punch... I still haven’t been able to track down a DSL 20 HR to try .... but from everything I’ve read it’s a versatile amp... i’m not really looking for versatility I just want some thing under $500 that will replicate or come close to my 1974 Marshall plexi head .... and from the origin 50 that I tried out at my local store I think that will give me that ..... thanks verybody for your help and opinions .

oh ...one other thing I did call Marshall and they told me both the origins and the DSL‘s are A/B design ... I was under the assumption that the 20 waters were Class A...But I was wrong

I am still going to thank you on that aspect brother, I just remember that my guitar still has to mix with a bassist and drums , and I like what I come up with, it has bite, grit, and can still clean up with the guitars volume knob.
    Thanks again...
    Mitch
